Akismet sends a lot of non-spam to spam heaven, so I stopped using it a couple of years ago. I have the premium version of commentluv, which includes g.a.s.p. I like that it has customizable options, and it seems to work quite well. A year or two ago, a Chinese bot tried to land 16,000 spam comments per HOUR on my blog – not one of them went live. (All got thrown into the spam folder, which was a problem for my host and for me, but it didn’t ever see the light of day as far as readers were concerned. That’s the main thing.)
