Marketing Strategies to Boost your Website Traffic

Whether you run a blog, an e-commerce website, or a have a website for your service, we all want the same thing – growth. We want more readers, more buyers, and more clients. The best way to make that happen is to boost traffic to your website.

If you have no experience marketing your website, it can be difficult to know where to start. That’s what this article will hopefully help with. We’ll lay out a few strategies that will help you boost your site’s visibility, making it easier for you to gain customers and/or readers.

  1. Search Engine Optimization

Search Engine Optimization, or SEO, is a little acronym for a big concept. There are even entire agencies like SEO AI that are dedicated to this marketing strategy. But what exactly is it, and how can it help your website?

There’s a lot that goes into SEO, but some of the key components are:

  • Content: The more content you can have on your site, the better. This is what helps Google find and categorize your site. For SEO purposes, it’s recommended that you have at least 200 words of content on every page.
  • Keywords: Going hand in hand with content, keywords are how your potential customers and readers find you. Try to think like a potential customer – what are they looking for? If you run an online dog accessory shop, you could include phrases like “best collar for small dogs” or “dog shampoo”. Sites like Ahrefs can tell you exactly how many people are searching for a specific keyword phrase and how difficult it is to rank for it. Whatever you do, don’t “stuff” keywords into an article. Google’s algorithm isn’t native and will penalize “black hat” SEO practices like keyword stuffing. Take a look at Black hat Vs. Gray Hat SEO.
  • Links: Just like content, links help Google crawl and make sense of your site. You should have plenty of internal links that link to other areas of your site so that you don’t end up with “orphaned” content. External links are important, too. The more websites you have linking back to your own, the more authority your site will have. But just like keyword stuffing, you should beware link spamming. Focus on the quality of your external links, not the quantity.
  1. Launch a New Series/Product

While SEO is a highly effective and affordable marketing strategy, it is not the only way to gain new readers/customers. New things always excite people. They like the anticipation of a new product or article coming out. This is an easy strategy to captivate readers.

Whether you are starting a new article series, posting something different than usual, or working hard on a new product, you need to let your audience know. Post pictures on social media, hype up the process on your website. This makes audiences feel like they are right there with you, personally invested.

Then when you release the new product/article, they’ll scoop it up right away.

  1. Join Facebook Groups/Online Forums

Making connections is important for gaining traction with your website. If you can join interest groups on Facebook or other social media that relate to your website, you already have an audience that will be willing to check you out.

If you have particular expertise, you can use that knowledge to contribute to online forums. For example, if you own a roofing company, you may be able to answer user questions on sites like Quora and advertise your site at the same time.

Wrap Up

These are just three of the many strategies to get more traffic. Because technology is always evolving, new strategies are being discovered all the time – experiment, monitor your progress, and reap the benefits of more traffic and higher revenues!
