Adobe has announced Adobe Authenticity Web, a free web app designed to assist creators by protecting and giving attribution for their work.

This new and free web app enables Adobe’s creators to attract Content Credentials to their work. It helps the creators protect their work and display attribution. It also helps the creators connect with their online audiences better. Essentially, Content Credentials are the creator signing their work in the digital sphere. Once a creator has posted their work online, it can be neatly traced back to them. The creator’s work is thus protected and transparency is also ensured.

While using the app, the user can choose a Usage Preference and Generative AI Training to determine whether or not other generative AI models will be able to use their work or how they will be able to use it.

Adobe Authenticity Web: Key features of the app

Users can apply Content Credentials to a multitude of files at the same time. The users also have full control over what information they want to attract to their work. As mentioned earlier, users can also decide whether or not they want their work to be trained on by generative AI models.

Content Credentials can also be viewed anywhere by using an extension made just for it. The Content Credentials extension on Google Chrome will allow users to view and engage with the Content Credentials. The users will also be allowed to view a detailed history of the information attached to the work uploaded with the Inspect tool. The Content Credentials that users use on the web app are extremely durable. It will persist even when other people take a screenshot or when the metadata has been removed.

Adobe Content Authenticity will be launched as a public beta in the first quarter of 2025. Interested individuals can sign up on Adobe’s waitlist if they want to try the app out. Adobe has also put out an open invitation for people to preview the app at Adobe MAX IN Miami Beach.

The Firefly Video Model will allow users to generate videos through text prompts. This video model was previously previewed earlier in the year. The model will expand Adobe’s suite of generative AI models. It will be able to support a broad multitude of cases including in the professional sphere or for more personal projects. 

Adobe has stated that the Firefly Video Model will come with three features namely Text-to-video, Image to Video and Generative Extend. All of these are in a private beta as of now but a public release is expected to roll out soon. Text-to-video allows video generation to take place with provided text prompts—similarly, image-to-video works with a similar premise. Videos generated will last around five seconds. Generative Extend is a feature that allows users to increase the total length of any provided video by two seconds. 

Firefly Video Model: More on this upcoming generative AI model

Firefly Video Model helps streamline the creative process and helps professionals in the fields envision their ideas. The video generation capability will be available through Premiere Pro, an Adobe video editing service. The model does not face many problems with the spelling of words, something prevalent in most generative AI models. 

This AI model is meant for commercial use so the model is trained on content that Adobe has received permission to use. Adobe has stated that the new video generation model does not train on content from Adobe customers.

Adobe has been met with criticism from its customers for introducing AI tools and features in its software. However, the company persists that its Firefly AI models do not train on its customer’s work and instead train on Adobe Stock or other free stock media.

Generative Shape Fill and its features

Generative Shape Fill, powered by Adobe’s Firefly Vector model, allows users to speed up their creative process by filling up colours and shapes personal to the users. The AI tool seamlessly matches and captures the user’s art style so the generated content does not look out of place.

Users can also select the area, shape, outline and similar and provide a text prompt for the feature to work. In addition, users are given various options to choose from to match the vision they have of their artwork. Other styles such as pixel art and 3D art can be used to enhance the user’s artwork or design.

This new AI feature assists in the user’s productivity by speeding up their workflow without compromising the quality of work.

Other AI features have also been released alongside the Generative Shape Fill tool. Text to Pattern is a tool that allows users to save their patterns and command them to be applied to their designs. Users can access the feature by clicking on the Object > Pattern option.

Dimension tool and Mockup are the other two features that have recently been added to the AI roster. The Dimension tool does not utilise AI as it simply enables users to measure the sizes of a design element to place it perfectly on a package, pattern and more. Meanwhile, Mockup allows users to place visual mock-ups on products, clothing, and more

The AI Assistant enables users to engage with it by asking questions about the document’s information. The answers provided by the AI Assistant also present citations to the users, which is a helpful tool in verifying the AI’s accuracy. AI Assistant also links sources to speed up the process of information retrieval. 

This useful tool creates summaries of documents and meetings, by utilising the generative AI tool called AI Summary. This tool offers users a transcript of a meeting, detailing the content that was talked about. To access this feature, users can click on the AI Assistant button and type in the prompts in the text box.

Another method for summarisation can be done through the Generative Summary tool which lets users quickly summarise their texts. 

It should be noted that not all AI features are available to all users. But Acrobat is slowly but surely rolling them out. Users can even disable this AI tool by going to Preferences and clicking on the Generative AI option. Unchecking the box that pops up will disable AI Assistant. 

AI Assistant has a subscription plan starting at $4.99 a month but users can access this tool for free for a short duration while using the Reader application.
