Google Pixel 9 series camera details

The vanilla Google Pixel 9 will keep using the Samsung GNK primary rear sensor, which was a 50-megapixel (MP) component in last year’s Pixel 8 series. You should see a 50MP Sony IMX858 sensor on the new pixel models.

The front camera sensor will be carried over to the base Pixel 9 model as well but it is expected that autofocus may make its way, which should result in improved images.

According to the report, Pixel 9 Pro comes equipped with a similar camera setup Some major upgrades could be made to the ultrawide, telephoto and selfie cameras but these cameras are expected on all models while differentiations come only with sensor sizes. It further says that the Google Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will have a trio of 50MP Sony IMX858 sensors as their ultrawide, telephoto as well as selfie modules.

Another one says that the Pixel 9 models have telephoto cameras with OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation). These changes can be made in the new Pixel models from the camera section around the current Pixel Fold’s rear. Including a 12-megapixel Sony IMX386 ultrawide shooter, an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 inside selfie camera and Samsung’s own exclusive 10.5-megapixel S5K2L3 external selfie camera with the current foldable handset

Further, the series of Google Pixel 9, is also guessed to record an 8K video at 30fps. It is unknown at this point which models will have access to the feature, but a future version of the Pixel Camera app may support 8K recording.
