The first and foremost requirement is for users to check if their devices are compatible with Apple Intelligence. For iPhone models, only the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be viable to download Apple Intelligence. Any iPad model with an M1, M2 or M4 chip will be compatible. In addition, any Mac model with an M1 or the chips after that will work. Apple Intelligences needs a lot of processing power so it has been limited only to a few Apple devices. Furthermore, the compatible OS include iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.

Apple has stated that only iPhone users with an extra 4GB of storage will be able to use Apple Intelligence. However, the required storage space may expand as the features increase. Since Apple Intelligence can only support US English as of now, only those devices set to US English will be compatible. Apple is planning on bringing more languages later in 2025.

iOS 17.6 has been released and Apple has urged its users to download the new software update regarding users’ security. Software updates for iPad 17.6 are also available for download.

This new iOS 17.6 and iPadOS 17.6 software update corrects certain issues that compromise and affect users’ security. The tech company fixed a whopping 35 security issues in the new update.

Apple has fixed several issues regarding the devices’ security such as the ImageIO, WebKit, Kernal, Keychain and more. One of the more notable fixes is the two issues in the Kernal. Both of these Kernal issues puts users’ devices at risk of hacking. However, hackers would need in-person access to the users’ devices. Furthermore, eight issues in WebKit have also been resolved.

Besides Apple, CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) has also issued a warning to US citizens to update their devices. CISA alerts that the issues with the Kernal leave users’ devices vulnerable to hackers and other adversaries.

The iOS 17.6 software update is available for Apple devices including the iPhone 11 series, iPhone 12 series, iPhone 13 series, iPhone 14 series and the iPhone 15 series. Other models include the iPhone XS, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR and the 2nd and 3rd generation of the iPhone SE.

How to set up Silence Unknown Caller Feature?

Users can turn this option on by going to the Settings menu, clicking Privacy, and then to the Calls menu. After turning on the Silence Unknown Callers option, they will not get calls from unknown callers. Moreover, WhatsApp says these calls will automatically mute but still show over the notification bar or section. This helps users to check if that call is important or not.

One of the biggest cybersecurity and antivirus software companies ‘Kaspersky Internet Security’ recently found a cybersecurity threat called ‘Triangulation’. This threat targets old versions of iPhones, such as iOS 15.7, and gains complete access via the iMessage app.

The iMessage app contains a malicious attachment that automatically installs spyware & takes complete control over the iPhone and its data.

As per the Kaspersky report, they just uncovered a cybersecurity threat. It is extremely complex & targets iPhone devices via the iMessage app by auto-installing spyware and taking complete control of it.

Operation Triangulation

Also, Kaspersky CEO Eugene Kaspersky tweeted about this iOS attack, and it is called Triangulation. He said, “Our investigation of this Triangulation continues, and we expect further details to be shared soon.”

In the Kaspersky report, they said that their team of iPhone users recognized this malware attack. This threat is quietly entered via the iMessage app and gets access to microphones, cameras, photos, messages, geolocation, and other sensitive data. 

He also said that this threat had been neutralized and complete vulnerability details had been sent to the Apple company.

Further investigation shows that dozens of iPhone devices were infected with this attack.

The Zero-Click Attack kaspersky internet security

Getting this threat inside the iPhone device is easier; the user will receive a message on the iMessage app with an attachment. When the user opens the message, a threat will automatically go inside the device and take complete control over the device. Once the hacker gets complete control, the message with the attachment will automatically be selected from the device.

On Friday, Kaspersky also released tools to identify if the device is infected. 

One of the clear indications or ideas to check this Triangulation attack on iPhone devices was that it turned off the iOS update and didn’t allow users to update their iOS version. 

The CEO of Kaspersky noticed that turning off the iMessage app can prevent iOS devices from being attacked. iOS 16 seems safe from this Triangulation threat, and there are low chances but not guaranteed.

Furthermore, Apple released major updates that fixed vulnerabilities with iOS 16.3 and MacOS 13.2 supported iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices.

The reason behind such rapid adoption of iOS 16 is the frequent updates, better performance, and smart screen compared to iOS 15, which still gets security patches.

Additionally, Apple continuously rolled out better improvements and new features at the time of iOS 16, such as the ability to unlock an iPhone while wearing a mask and the advanced data protection feature, throughout the year. However, the ios 16 adoption rate is quite similar to iOS 15 at the time of its release.

Meanwhile on Android

Regarding the adoption rate, iOS surely has higher advantages over Android.

Apple’s iOS 16 was launched in September 2022, and Android 13 was released in October 2020, but the adoption of Android 13 was at around 12.1%. 

Most Android devices are still running on Android 11, launched in 2020.

The reason behind such a lower adoption rate of Android 13 is that the Android phone comes from various manufacturers while the iOS is only available for iPhones. 

So it’s hard for Google to have control over third-party Android devices for the latest updates.

• Your screen is now sharing real-time with other people.

That’s it!

Note: Screen Sharing will not work in a large group of calls. It’s only possible for one-to-one video calls to share the screen with another person. And both users must have an up-to-date WhatsApp app to use this feature.

WhatsApp ‘Username’ Feature

Additionally, some reports said WhatsApp plans to set up a ‘usernames’ option where users can set their unique usernames for their accounts. This feature is already spotted on Instagram, Telegram, and other social apps.
