Apple’s new premium laptop will come in three different chip options: M4, M4 Pro, and the all-new M4 Max. Users can choose between the 14-inch MacBook or the 16-inch MacBook, the latter priced higher than the former. While both the M4 and the M4 Pro versions have 16 GB of Unified Memory, the M4 Max comes with 24 GB. Additionally, the M4 Max and M4 Pro come with 1 TB of SSD storage, while the base version comes with 512 GB of SSD storage. With the all-new powerful M4 chip family, users will be able to run beautiful and intensive graphic work on their MacBooks. Gaming will also be much more realistic and immersive than before.

Apple Intelligence will also be cutting the newly unveiled MacBooks. Users will be able to streamline and complete their work more efficiently and conveniently with Apple Intelligence. The battery has also been said to last for up to 24 hours and it also supports fast charging.

MacBook Pro: More features from Apple’s announcement

With the combination of the macOS and M4 chips, apps on the new MacBook Pro are super smooth to use. The Liquid Retina XDR display also provides 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness as well as 1,000 nits of brightness for SDR content in brighter environments.

To ensure a smooth sailing Zoom conference, the new MacBook comes with a 12MP Centre Stage camera as well as a studio-quality three-mic array and six-speaker sound system. Apple has also stated that their new launch comes with Thunderbolt 5 for super-fast file transfers.

Apple’s new release also marks the company’s first carbon-neutral Mac device. The mini is built with 50% recycled content as the tech giant is taking steps towards reducing their carbon footprint.

The new Mac mini comes equipped with a variety of ports including two USB-C ports with USB 3 and an audio jack. The M4 Pro contains three Thunderbolt 5 bolts while the standard M4 has three Thunderbolt 4 ports. Furthermore, the new Mac also comes with Gigabit Ethernet and it can also support up tp 6K displays as well as one 5K display. Meanwhile, the M4 Pro supports three 6K displays at 60Hz for up to 60 million pixels.

The first and foremost requirement is for users to check if their devices are compatible with Apple Intelligence. For iPhone models, only the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be viable to download Apple Intelligence. Any iPad model with an M1, M2 or M4 chip will be compatible. In addition, any Mac model with an M1 or the chips after that will work. Apple Intelligences needs a lot of processing power so it has been limited only to a few Apple devices. Furthermore, the compatible OS include iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.

Apple has stated that only iPhone users with an extra 4GB of storage will be able to use Apple Intelligence. However, the required storage space may expand as the features increase. Since Apple Intelligence can only support US English as of now, only those devices set to US English will be compatible. Apple is planning on bringing more languages later in 2025.

iPhone requirements for Apple Intelligence: More requirements to access the AI

Another one of the important iPhone requirements is for users to reside outside of China and the European Union. Apple Intelligence currently does not have any support for users living in China and the EU. Apple’s CEO has stated that they are working on bringing Apple Intelligence to these regions but it may take a while.

Users who have checked off all requirements will have to join a waitlist. Users may need to wait longer if there are a lot more people joining the waitlist. It should be noted that users need only to join the waitlist once to use Apple Intelligence on various devices.

Apple released macOS Sequoia for several Mac devices such as iMac Pro, Mac Studio, 2019 iMacs and later models, and 2019 Mac Pros and later models. 2018 Mac Minis and Macbook Pros and later models are also compatible with Sequoia. 2020 MacBook Airs and later models are also included.

One of the most exciting features introduced in the new update is iPhone Mirroring. This lets users access their iPhones from their Mac devices. Users can perform functions from their iPhones through their Mac devices. For instance, users can reply to iPhone notifications from their Macs. The user’s iPhone remains locked during the whole process. This ensures that no one will be able to view what the user is doing.

macOS Sequoia: More features from Sequoia

New updates to Safari have been introduced to macOS Sequoia. Users are given a Highlights feature. Distraction Control also makes its arrival. This feature enables users to hide webpage items that users may find distracting to their browsing experience. In addition to these features, a fresh updated Reader lets users read articles faster. A new streamlined display, table of contents, summary and a fresh Viewer allows videos to be put upfront. This gives the users full-fledged access to the system’s playbacks.

Users can also put new and attractive backgrounds during their video conference sessions. They can even use their own photos for backgrounds. Presenter preview lets users view what they are about to share right before the conference starts.

Apple Intelligence has not yet arrived in macOS Sequoia. But Apple has stated that Apple Intelligence will make its way into Sequoia soon. Other updates in Messages, Notes App, and Maps have also been launched.

iPhone Mirroring will allow Mac users to mirror their iPhone’s display to their Mac. Other functions in the new feature allow users to interact with their iPhones and receive iPhone notifications on their Macs. Users can also drag and drop between their Mac and iPhone devices seamlessly. 

The other iOS 18 feature is the SharePlay screen sharing which will offer enhanced screen sharing capabilities. Apple also states,” You can draw on someone’s screen so they can see what they can do on theirs, or control their screen and take actions yourself.”

iOS 18 beta will also fix bugs and make a few tweaks to the other new features. Some of the new Siri capabilities will also be released later this year. 

iOS 18 beta 2 will be released for developers alongside the second betas for iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, tvOS 18, visionOS 2, and watchOS 11. Meanwhile, a public beta will be available later in July.

iOS 18 Beta 2 and the reason for its unavailability in the EU 

Apple has previously announced that three major features for iOS 18 will not be available in the European Union. Bloomberg reports that features such as iPhone Mirroring to macOS Sequoia, SharePlay Sharing and Apple Intelligence will not be available will not be available in the European Union.

Apple is facing problems over violations against the Digital Markets Act, which has consequently affected the release of some of the new iOS 18 features in the EU. 

Apple has stated, “We are concerned that the interoperability requirements of the DMA could force us to compromise the integrity of our products in ways that risk user privacy and data security.”

It has even been speculated that Apple and Meta could soon face charges over DMA violations.
