WhatsApp blue checkmark verification is coming to replace the green checkmarks. This upcoming feature is already being rolled out to beta users on the Android 2.24.14.18 update.

This also marks Meta’s third platform to introduce the blue checkmark verification. Meta platforms; Instagram and Facebook have already adopted the blue checkmark verification.

It has been reported that the current green checkmark will be replaced by a blue checkmark instead. The WhatsApp blue checkmark update will be available for verified businesses and channels.

The blue checkmark acts as an authenticity identifier. It decreases any chances of impersonation and identity theft.

WhatsApp Blue Checkmark and reasons for its change

Since its inception, WhatsApp has always been associated with the colour green, so the decision to change the verification colour from green to blue may surprise some. However, Meta has its reason for the change.

With this new update, Meta aims to maintain a consistent system for badge verifications for all its platforms. Making the verification blue for all Meta platforms creates a stronger brand identity for the tech giant.

Besides the checkmarks, other rumours surround the features in WhatsApp future updates. The messaging app is also planning on releasing its ‘Imagine Me’ feature which lets users make customised stickers from their selfies. This new feature will be available through the recently released MetaAI chatbot.

This new feature is available in the WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.24.13.17 update.

According to WABetaInfo, users do not need to add contacts in their address book to make calls from the app. Additionally, by entering a phone number, users can quickly save it as a new or existing contact in the address book. A messaging shortcut will appear on the dialer screen, enabling users to send messages to a phone number they had first intended to dial but chose to message instead.

This new feature makes it faster and easier for users to connect with people quickly without saving their numbers.

Before this update, users would have to manually save another person’s contact information in their address book so they could contact them on WhatsApp. However, with this new feature, users will now have a faster way to navigate the app.

WhatsApp other updates:

WhatsApp has also updated its status tab with a new design. Android users now have a square-shaped status tab.

A status preview has also been added as a new feature. Users can now preview status updates without clicking on them. This update will be available gradually to all users soon.

In our post-pandemic reality, personal and professional spheres have seamlessly transitioned into the digital realm, whether from the comfort of our homes, traditional offices, or local coffee shops. Element emerges as a groundbreaking platform, placing cybersecurity at the forefront. It ensures a secure online environment, acknowledging the critical importance of safeguarding personal and professional data in this interconnected world.

Secure App for Messaging and Collaboration

Built on the Matrix, an open standard for real-time communication, Element provides a secure messaging and collaboration solution. The decentralization of Matrix gives Element users complete control of their data, allowing them to choose where and how their service is hosted – be it on-premise, self-hosted in the cloud, or managed by Element.

With no vendor lock-in, Element ensures interoperability with any Matrix-based app, offering bridging services to connect with traditional collaboration and messaging apps. The best part? The Element is more secure than mainstream tools like Microsoft Teams and Slack, thanks to its end-to-end encryption. Unlike WhatsApp, Element keeps user phone numbers private while delivering robust business functionality.

Users of Element have full control and ownership of their data.

Element’s journey took a turn when the French government approached them to create a secure communication platform for 5.5 million civil servants. At the time, the company had only 15 staff members. Since then, demand has soared, leading to significant team expansion.

With the US, UK, and German governments, along with numerous enterprises, adopting Element, their global revenue has grown 24 times in four years. The team has grown to over 170 people across 22 countries, speaking 15 languages.

Backed by notable investors like Skype co-founder Jaan Tallinn’s Metaplanet and Automattic, the parent company of WordPress.com, Element seems poised to secure its spot at the forefront of secure messaging and collaboration apps.
