This new launch by Vivo is built on Android’s fluid system and certain elements that make the OS what it is. Vivo exchanges Android’s Fair Scheduling algorithm with its own Priority Scheduling model. It can be seen that Funtouch focuses more on computing power for the purpose of foreground processes. Results therefore result in a 15% increase in speed when a user opens an app, even when the system goes through overload.

There is also an impressive 40% compression speed increase. This is all due to the optimised zRAM memory compression algorithm. In addition, users will also be able to run their multiple apps smoothly without any lags. Vivo has also brought in Origin Animation which aids in improving the smoothness of animation and responsiveness of interactions. The Aqua Dynamic Effect also improves upon the system interactions coupled with animated effects making the while interacting feel more natural and smoother.

Funtouch OS 15: More Features and Device Availability

The Funtouch OS 15 comes with more than 3,800 revamped design elements which also include fonts, illustrations, system colours and more. The new Funtouch OS makes for a more minimalistic design and aesthetic. Furthermore, users have a wide range of customization options.

An AI-powered feature called the AI Image Lab enables users to enhance their photo quality automatically. Users can also remove a document’s shadows. The Ultra Game Mode has also introduced a sidebar that contains game tools, and a performance panel. The Game Small Window has also been added. The addition of the sidebar makes it easier and quicker to access apps and adjust settings.

The Funtouch OS 15 will be available on Vivo X Fold3 Pro, iQOO 12, and the X100 Series. These devices can commence the upgrade around October.

It has been reported that the Control Centre will be receiving a huge revamp. The layout of the Control Centre looks like a blend between Xiaomi’s HyberOS and Apple’s iOS. Users may find two toggles similar to that of HyberOS’ layout. There is also a noticeable split between the notification area and the control centre. Users will be able to view the Control Centre by swiping down from the right side. Meanwhile, the notification area is revealed when swiping down from the left side. Furthermore, users will be able to customise the Control Central. Icons can be rearranged and texts hidden below the controls. 

Another change is in the volume slide. This volume slide bears a similar functionality to that of the iOS volume slider. The volume slider shrinks to a more narrower width. OxygenOS also brings live photos to the camera app. iOS also has the same feature built within its camera app. 

Oxygen 15: More features of this upcoming OS 

With OxygenOS 15, users will be able to customise their lock screen. They can adjust the size, position, and colour of the clock. Users are also given a variety of lock screen presets to pick from. A dynamic island feature will also make its way. Notifications and alerts will appear at the centre top just like the Dynamic Island system from iOS. 

OxygenOS is an operating system developed by OnePlus specifically for their smartphones. Reports have said the beta version will be available by the end of September or the start of October.

Even when this feature has been turned on, parents can still contact their child in the case of an emergency.

This feature also lets parents choose and create a schedule for apps allowed for usage in classes. This can be done through the Family Link, Google’s parental control app. In addition, parents can choose who can contact their children during these class hours.

Parents can even switch on this feature when it is time to study or limit screen time. Parents can even set limitations and silence notifications for teenagers who do not fall under the usual School Time feature.

Furthermore, Google is introducing even more features that cater to teenagers. A new update that will be available this year will allow parents to monitor their teenager’s YouTube activity by linking accounts. Moreover, supervision through the Family Link will be permitted for all ages which gives more parental control. Google has also set default safety settings for underaged users. SafeSearch can be turned on and autoplay can also be turned off on YouTube. Lastly, ‘problematic’ content that can be harmful to impressionable teenagers has also been limited with newly introduced safeguards.

Meanwhile, Apple recently shared a report showing the iOS16 adoption rate reached 81% adoption rate, which shows that most iPhone devices are now running on the latest version.

iOS16 Adoption Rate Reached 81%

As per the Apple Developer Website report, iOS 16 adoption rate has reached 81%, 13% of devices are running on iOS 15, and 6% are running over older versions.

Also, iPadOS 16 runs on 71% of iPads, and only 20% runs on iPadOS 15.

The reason behind such rapid adoption of iOS 16 is the frequent updates, better performance, and smart screen compared to iOS 15, which still gets security patches.

Additionally, Apple continuously rolled out better improvements and new features at the time of iOS 16, such as the ability to unlock an iPhone while wearing a mask and the advanced data protection feature, throughout the year. However, the ios 16 adoption rate is quite similar to iOS 15 at the time of its release.

Meanwhile on Android

Regarding the adoption rate, iOS surely has higher advantages over Android.

Apple’s iOS 16 was launched in September 2022, and Android 13 was released in October 2020, but the adoption of Android 13 was at around 12.1%. 

Most Android devices are still running on Android 11, launched in 2020.

The reason behind such a lower adoption rate of Android 13 is that the Android phone comes from various manufacturers while the iOS is only available for iPhones. 

So it’s hard for Google to have control over third-party Android devices for the latest updates.
