It is unclear whether this new launch will remain a South Korean exclusive or if it will be available to other countries later in the year. The new Fold 6 comes with a couple of new improvements and features. But with these improvements also comes a price increase. The standard Fold 6 is priced at $1,900. Meanwhile, the Special Edition is priced at $2,025, marking a $124 price increase. This new Special Edition can be purchased at Samsung’s Korean website or in select stores in the country. It will be available for purchase starting this week on October 25. 

The new Z Fold is only available in one colour, Black Shadow. Some of the exciting new features in the Special Edition also include a larger display. The foldable phone by Samsung has an external display of 6.5 inches and the width measures to be 8 inches while folded. In addition to the size increase, the Z Fold’s camera also comes with a new enhancement. The camera features a 200MP primary camera to give the best and crispest picture quality.

In comparison, the standard model measured to be 12.1 mm when folded.

Samsung has unveiled the Samsung Galaxy Quantum 5 which will be a South Korean exclusive launch. It will therefore only be available in South Korea and can only be available for purchase in the country. 

The Samsung Galaxy Quantum 5 is an improved version of the Galaxy A55. This new version of the Galaxy A55 comes with enhanced security as well as newly added AI functions and capabilities. The new launch comes as a collaboration with SK Telecom, a telecom carrier from South Korea. 

The Galaxy Quantum 5 is priced at KRW 618,200 and it comes bundled with a free silicone case from the company. Additionally, a YouTube Premium subscription of two months and a six-month free subscription of Microsoft 365 Basic is a part of the package. Users will also be given a YES24 Crema Club Standard plan.

Samsung Galaxy Quantum 5: Main features of the phone 

This new Samsung release utilises a QRNG (Quantum Random Number Generator) chip called the S2Q000. This chip when combined with Samsung Knox provides the phone with strengthened security especially when used in payment and bank apps. 

The Galaxy Quantum 5 has a 6.6 Super AMOLED screen and an impressive HD+ resolution. This display quality paired with the phone’s 120Hz refresh rate results in the best viewing experience. The phone’s front camera is 32MP while the back camera is 50MP. In addition, the Quantum 5 can record full 4K 30fps videos. It also has approximately 128GB of storage and 8GB RAM. The Samsung phone makes use of the Exynos 1480 chip and is powered by Android 14. 

This new launch is also equipped with a 5000mAh battery and can support up to 25W of fast charging. It uses the USB Type C port for charging. The Quantum 5 is water resistant and includes an IP67 rating for both water and dust resistance making it quite durable in rough terrain.

Samsung’s New Security Update and its Features

Samsung’s Cloud Enhanced Data Protection ensures that users’ data stays safe and secure in Samsung Cloud. This feature will be available from the Galaxy S24 onwards and provide users with more security when data has been synced with Samsung Cloud.

This feature decreases the loss of data through E2EE (end-to-end encryption), which makes the data accessible only to the users themselves. Additionally, users will be provided with a recovery code for the prevention of data loss. This recovery code can be used in case the user loses their device.

Users can access the Samsung Cloud Enhanced Data Protection by going into Settings of the Samsung Cloud App and clicking on Security and Privacy. Users will then have to click on More Security Settings choose the Enhanced Data Protection and finally switch on the Encrypt Backup Data and Encrypt Synced Data. However, this feature is only available on devices that use the Enhanced Data Protection feature.

Samsung has also introduced Quick Share’s Private Sharing. This feature ensures privacy and security while sharing files on Quick Share. It should be noted that this feature only functions between two Samsung devices.

Users will be able to share files only with contacts that they have selected. Furthermore, once the files have been shared, the recipient cannot share the files with other people. Screenshotting the files has also been blocked when using this feature.

To access this feature, users can turn this mode on inside Quick Share. Once it has been turned on, users can share files up to 200MB.

The Galaxy Buds3 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro are in this year’s Buds lineup. Both devices come equipped with Samsung’s AI copilot, Galaxy AI. They share other features such as ANC, Adaptive EQ/ANC, 360 Audio, IP57 durability, Samsung Find and Auto Switch. 

The play time in both versions differs from each other. The Buds3 Pro has a 7.0/30hr playtime with the ANC off and a 6.0/26hr playtime with the ANC on. Meanwhile, the Buds3 has a play time of 6.0/30hr with the ANC off and a 5.0/24hr playtime with the ANC on. 

Galaxy Buds3 More Differences Between Versions  

The Buds3 Pro and Buds3 are available in two colours such as silver and white. The Bud3 Pro earphones come with a two-way enhanced speaker, allowing listeners to hear instrumental vibrato with minimal distortion. However, the Buds3 only has a one-way speaker. The blade lights and ambient sound are also only available on the Buds3 Pro.

The tech company utilises the Samsung Seamless Codec which maintains a 24bit/96Hx sound. Users can also experience spatial audio allowing for a more vivid and immersive listening experience. 

Both versions in the Buds3 lineup are available to pre-order on Samsung’s official site. Other releases such as the Galaxy Z Series, Galaxy Watch 7, Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Ring were also launched at the Unpacked event.

This year, Samsung recently released its own AI copilot, consisting of various AI features such as Photo Assist, Interpreter and Live Translate for phone calls. The Live Translate feature enables users to talk on the phone and receive live translation of the conversation. This feature is available in 13 languages. 

A tipster on X has revealed that the company plans to partner with WhatsApp to include its Live Translate feature. This move will allow users to receive instant translations of their conversations on WhatsApp calls. However, it should be noted that this feature may only be available on select Galaxy devices. 

Samsung had previously announced that it would extend its Live Translate feature to a third-party app but the tech company still needs to reveal which app it would partner with. So this new tip aligns with Samsung’s announcement. 

Galaxy AI Upcoming Announcement

Samsung has yet to confirm the rumour but is expected to announce this integration at the Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10. Additionally, at the Galaxy Unpacked event, the tech giant is also expected to announce its One UI 6.1.1 update. 

Other rumours include the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Flip 6 smartphones released at the Galaxy Unpacked event. 

The tech company is also speculated to extend their Live Translate services to other third-party apps such as Google Meet.

New phones from Samsung are set to be unveiled this week, and they will feature more artificial intelligence than any phones before them. Following the “Put a ChatGPT on it” CES 2024, that’s not an assumption, though it would be simple. Nope. Samsung is telling us loud and clear, even going so far as to put it on the Sphere—the equal of yelling it from the rooftops in 2024. However, how does AI manifest on a mobile device? There have only been a few technical demonstrations so far. The Galaxy Unpacked event this week is a chance to demonstrate the possibilities of mobile AI. Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to be far more helpful on our phones than a washing machine preloaded with ChatGPT.

Artificial intelligence made a big splash in 2023, but it has yet to be a game-changer for our mobile gadgets. The enormous language models that drive chatbots like ChatGPT just can’t run on our phones, and that has been the truth of our present technology. A ChatGPT program that executes cloud-based queries is available for download but will not notify you if a critical email has arrived. Things are beginning to change, though. In October, Google released the Pixel 8 Pro, which could run its foundation models locally. Following this, updates powered by artificial intelligence were promised. However, just two have shown up thus far, and they could be more spectacular.

All About Samsung Galaxy AI Feature

I jumped at the chance to utilize the new Samsung Galaxy AI transcript summarization feature in the December software update since I am a huge fan of the Pixel Recorder app. On the other hand, it appears to have issues with recordings longer than 10 minutes. Many of my recordings were, therefore, excluded. Video Boost—also known as Night Sight for videos—also appeared as part of the same upgrade. It’s alright, but the cloud processing can take an hour or two, and the effects aren’t as spectacular as Night Sight for still images.

However, there is an even more encouraging development underway. Last year, during the Pixel launch event, Google introduced Assistant with Bard, an artificial intelligence chatbot inspired by ChatGPT. Bard wasn’t the most groundbreaking Samsung Galaxy AI when it first came out, but its usefulness has improved. Making it into an assistant who can do more complicated tasks than just setting a timer would be a good start. Also, according to the Unpacked teaser images from Samsung, Bard could be included in this week’s developments.

Is it possible that Bard will be available at launch for the Galaxy S24 series? If Bixby were involved, where would he be? Do you recall Bixby? Launching its AI extravaganza with a competitor’s phone seems strange for Google, but Samsung sells far more Android phones than Google does. These foes may become even closer allies in the age of artificial intelligence.
