AI Overviews by Google has rolled out in several new countries and has received a new update as well. The countries receiving the feature are India, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Japan, Indonesia and Brazil.

Google has stated that AI Overviews will also feature support for local languages in each of the countries that have been added. The feature by Google was first launched in the United States after it was announced at the company’s developer conference back in May. At the I/0 2024 event, Google mentioned that it planned to bring AI Overviews after experimenting with Search Generative Experience for almost a year.

This feature by Google creates summaries of information that is available online. This feature also cites the sources pulled from the search results in the summaries provided. However, users should know they cannot turn off this feature.

Google is also testing showing links to appropriate or relevant websites all inside the feature. This works in hand with the existing links provided in AI Overviews. It has been reported that the experiment has already reaped good results as noticed in the increase in website traffic.

The company has also updated the feature’s design on the desktop version. The desktop version will feature an updated display where the links will now be located on the right-hand side. Search Labs is also receiving a save feature in the Overviews feature which enables users to save a particular overview for reference.
