To be able to run Netflix, users will have to install iOS 17 or higher to use the streaming app. Users can still use Netflix if their phone falls under the category of discontinued support Netflix users for these devices can still access the accounts and rt. But no more updates will be given to these devices.

The affected iPhones and iPads include the iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPad Pro (1st generation) and iPad (5th generation). Users who are still on iOS 16 will still be able to go into account and perform all functions just like before. It will simply stop receiving updates.

This decision by Netflix to end support for select devices may be met with backlash by some. However, it is important to remember that such changes are necessary when it comes to maintaining apps. If users continue with the older version, their device could be compromised by the lack of security.

With the introduction of the new songwriter features, songwriters can track and manage royalties from songs they have written. These new features can be accessed through the TIDAL Artist Home where artists can sort out their PRO (Performing Rights Organisation), IPI (Unique songwriter ID number), and Publisher Info.

New Songwriter Features on TIDAL

Artists will have to sign up to the specified rights organisations to obtain royalties from their songs. Therefore, TIDAL has teamed up with AllTrack to make the royalty and registration process for the artist performing rights easy and uncomplicated for the artists.

Furthermore, artists will also be able to properly categorise their music into three different types namely. The three categories are called Unmatched Recordings, Completed Works, and Works Without Recordings. Artists can also use verified split sheets to allocate the song credits of various contributors.

The songwriters can also decide who else has access to manage their catalogues. Permission can be given to the artist’s managers or publishers and later removed if the artist sees fit.

TIDAL has also allowed its artists to view their music metadata to check whether or not the royalties are properly split.
