The dating app has introduced these updates intending to attract more users to its subscription plans. Tinder has reportedly lost more than 400,000 users from its subscription plans in the past quarter. So these new updates to Tinder U are the company’s move to increase its paid user base. 

Tinder U is a feature under Tinder that primarily caters to young adults enrolled in a college or university. It helps college students expand their social circle and meet a potential significant other on campus. 

Tinder U Updates: New features introduced by Tinder

Tinder U updates include a new badge system which lets users add badges to their Tinder profile. These badges consist of the major, Greek life, clubs or the year they graduate. These badges act as a replacement for the information that users usually put on their profiles. For instance, a user’s bios, towns, and other details relevant to them will be replaced by the new college-themed badges. 

Tinder has also made the sign-up procedure much more simple for college students. Now, students will be able to apply to Tinder U directly. This means there will be a single registration for college students. Users had to sign up for Tinder before they could sign up for Tinder U. With the new Tinder U updates, registration has become much more simple and faster. 

Tinder is expected to hold its annual Swipe Off challenge. This yearly event awards the university or college with the most amount of Tinder swipe activity with a free concert. The free concert this year will be headlined by rappers such as GloRilla and Gunna. This event is a US-exclusive challenge so institutions in the US are only applicable for the Swipe Off challenge.
