Smartcat is a startup based in Massachusetts, United States is an AI translation service that generates automatic translations in virtually any language.

This AI startup founded in 2016, aims to provide users with accurate and human-like translations in any desired language. The company has more than a thousand customers and most of its customer base consists of global enterprises. Ivan Smolnikov, CEO and co-founder of Smartcat says the AI service can support a variety of use cases for its enterprise users who deal with content in different languages.

The startup can be used to translate any content and this includes, texts, videos, audio and other such cases. It is an easy-to-use translation service with more than 280 available languages to translate to and from. Users can instantly translate documents, and websites, as well as generate multilingual content. More than 50 file formats are supported and there is no additional charge for extra seats. This means that users can invite as many of their colleagues as they want to use this service.

Moreover, this service also translates and transcribes audio, videos and other non-textual formats. Although the translations are claimed to be accurate, the accuracy also depends on the language pair.

Smartcat: More on this AI startup

Users can also select from three translation choices including human translation, AI translation or a combination of the two choices. Smartcat puts content into a ‘matching engine’ which decides the kind of third-party model to be used.

The company has recently raised over $43 million in a Series C funding round. This funding round was led by Left Lane Capital and the success of this funding round will go into hiring more team members. Funds will also go into product development and other marketing and sales strategies.

Smartcat for small teams is available for $99 monthly but the service also offers a free 14-day trial.

Google Translate adds 110 languages in a new update announced on their website. This marks Google’s largest-ever language expansion.

Google’s new language update is powered by Google’s PaLM 2 large language model. The language model has been stated to help the language service learn similar languages more efficiently. For instance, Marwadi and Awadhi are notably similar to Hindi, a language already available in the service.

Google states in its official blog, “Languages have an immense amount of variation: regional varieties, dialects, different spelling standards. In fact, many languages have no one standard form, so it’s impossible to pick a “right” variety. Our approach has been to prioritize the most commonly used varieties of each language.”

Google Translate 110 Added Languages

Among the 110 languages, Afar, Cantonese, Manx, Nko Tamazight and Tok Pisin are added to the collection. Six new Indian languages have also been added in the update: Khasi, Marwadi, Kokborok, Awadhi and Santali.

Before this expansion, the Google service supported only 133 languages but with the new inclusions, Google Translate has now amassed a whopping 243 languages.

Users can access the service either on the web browser or through the Google Translate app available on Android and iOS.

Researchers at Dartmouth College have turned to the Bible to improve translations done by computers.

What is the Bible?

It is a sacred book revered by the Christians and Jews. It is a collection of teachings, history, prophecies, and moral guidelines. The book is divided into two testaments focusing on God’s covenant with humanity and centers around Jesus Christ’s Life and teachings.

The Historic Relevance of the Bible

The Bible holds proven data for almost 2,700 years old. That’s like years of timeless wisdom on morality, relationships, purpose and so much more. The broad language construct of the Bible makes it a very strong literary source. With a wide range of translations and corrections, it is a great source of literature. Because the Bible is such an old text it covers a range of cultures and historic events.

AI Translation and Language Updating

Artificial intelligence has evolved unlike how it used to be. From being a technology to modernizing or simplifying complex tasks to becoming a useful tool for language and content creative purposes.

Google’s chatbot the Gemini very recently had an update. The update now has enabled Gemini to generate images and provide multilingual answers to the prompts. This is a good example of the use of language and translation in AI. With the very recent issues found in ChatGPT concerning the lack of data accuracy companies have now started to take serious action to improve the data set of their AI.

Suggested:

ChatGPT for SEO Optimization.

Bible and AI

Researchers at Dartmouth College have relied on the Bible to improve the translations done by computers. The researchers have looked at how the ancient text is a strong source of historical events plus a shelf full of literary legacies. Data improvements and improvements in translation made using the Bible are a step to appreciating the oldest era. This bridges the gap between the modern world of AI and the birth of literature and how we might still need manuscripts to always rely on them.

Users of the Gmail mobile app may now translate emails into over 100 different languages thanks to a feature that Google is progressively introducing.

This function has been accessible through Gmail on the web for a long time. A much-needed improvement is the implementation of mobile devices.

Within the app, translate Gmail messages

Users of the Gmail mobile app will soon see an ad that may be dismissed that lets them translate messages into their preferred language. When an email has material that conflicts with the user’s “Google.com Mail display language” settings, this notice should appear.

To translate the email’s content, users simply tap the translate banner. Users can also choose whether Gmail should always or never translate a particular language in the future.

Alternative Techniques For Gmail Translation

The three-dot menu allows users to manually translate messages until the new capability is available. Users of iOS apps can now highlight text and access the translate feature by doing so.

Adding more Gmail users to the translation feature aids in removing language barriers for both business and individual users.

If the translation option is disabled, it won’t show up the next time the content language of an email doesn’t match the selected display language. Users can also choose not to translate certain languages.

On August 8, Google started rolling out this feature gradually to Android app users; on August 21, iOS users would follow. All users of Google Workspace and personal Google accounts should have access to it.

Improved Global Communications

Gmail messages may now be translated within the mobile app interface, which will be helpful for Google Workspace and personal Gmail users that communicate with people all around the world.

It might allow for seamless communication across linguistic boundaries, enabling firms to interact with a variety of audiences.

Suggested:
