WhatsApp has finally announced the most awaited feature, ‘message editing,’ that allows users to edit their messages after they have been sent but only within 15 minutes.

WhatsApp Message Editing Feature

In a Facebook post, Meta Founder & CEO, Mark Zuckerberg announced this new editing feature for WhatsApp. Now users can edit their messages to correct their mistakes within 15 minutes of sending the message.

WhatsApp Message Editing Feature

Last Week, WhatsApp was testing on the beta version of the Android and iOS app and web interface to check the performance, and now it’s rolled out to global users.

Billions of users can now edit their message after it is sent within 15 minutes.

How to edit a WhatsApp message once it’s sent?

1. Open your up-to-date WhatsApp.

2. Just long-press on a particular message.

3. A pop-up shows, and the user needs to click on the ‘Edit’ option, rewrite the message, and click on Save.

That’s it!

This feature applies to individual and group chats to delete the message. However, it will display the ‘edited’ status alongside the new message.

Previously, the only possible solution was to correct a message, i.e., to delete it and send another fresh message. But the deleted message shows the status “This message was deleted.”

This new ‘message editing’ feature is now helping billions of users to resolve their mistakes and let them easily edit their message within 15-mins after sending them.

In Short:

  • WhatsApp has rolled out a new ‘Message Editing’ feature.
  • Users can easily edit their message after it is sent.
  • It’s available on Android, iOS, and Web-interface.

Note: Furthermore, WhatsApp assured users that all their edits are protected with end-to-end encryption.
