These newly launched headphones come with a custom ANC algorithm and utilise eight mics which sample sound ‘384,00 times a second’. It brings a combination of premium material with an internal geometry that cancels out unwanted noise of up to 40 dB. The OnTrac headphones also come equipped with 40mm and 16-ohm neodymium speaker drivers with advanced audio signal processing. This makes sure that every single word and note is as precise as possible.

The Dyson OnTrac headphones have a 55-hour battery life and two weeks of listening while the ANC is turned on. Users can choose to turn off the ANC by double-tapping on an ear cup. It has also been certified by US Ergonomics. This certification ensures that the design is ergonomic and comfortable. The headphones are built with high-grade foam cushions and gimbal arms which take the weight off the ears. The headphone battery has also been positioned in such a way that the headband distributes the weight evenly.

Dyson OnTrac: Customization features for this new launch

The Dyson OnTrac is available in four colour variants including the CNC Aluminium, Nicle and Copper. Customers can also customise their headphone ear cushions and outer caps in different finishes and colourways.

MyDyson app also comes with this headphone. This app allows users to choose between Bass Boost, Neutral and Enhanced. In addition to this, the app also provides a real-time sound-tracking feature that lets users know if they are listening to audio at harmful volumes.

Furthermore, users can signal their headphones to stop playing audio with Head Detect. Once the headphones are removed from the user’s head, the music automatically stops. The Intuitive Joystick also lets users easily skip, rewind track, and play audio.

The AirPods 4 will be available starting September 20 but those interested can also preorder the new launch. The new AirPods are deemed Apple’s most comfortable and advanced earphones, which the company designed. Customers are offered two models as options such as the AirPods 4 and the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation. The model with Active Noise Cancellation is priced higher at $179 than the standard model at $129.

The new AirPods offer up to 24 hours of battery life with a USB-C charging port. It gives users up to five hours of audio listening running on a one-time charge. The open-ear design of the AirPods makes for a comfortable fit for most ear shapes. Powered by an H2 chip, these earphones provide features like Voice Isolation, enhancing call quality. The H2 chip also makes the new AirPods ideal for gaming as it supports 16-but, 48kHz audio. Additionally, a new exciting feature also allows users to decline or accept an incoming call. Users can also apply the same to questions by Siri. A force sensor feature in the new AirPods also allows users to pause, mute or play audio or calls with a fast press. 

AirPods 4: More features and other announcements of AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Max

Users are given a fully immersive experience with Personalised Spatial Audio coupled with a dynamic head-tracking feature. Apple is introducing ANC for the very first time in an open-ear design with the new AirPods release. Other features also include Transparency Mode keeping users wary of their current environment. Another feature called Adaptive Audio combines both Transparency and ANC according to the user’s environmental conditions. 

Besides the new AirPods release, Apple has also announced the release of five new colour variants for the AirPods Max. The new colour variants are namely, Midnight, Blue, Orange, Purple and Starlight. The Airpods Pro 2 will also be introducing a Hearing test, Hearing Aid, and Hearing Protection feature.

Walkmans were known for their sleek design and portability which set it apart from its predecessors. Light-weight headphones were also included along with the cassette player. The Walkman fit into pockets, it could be held with ease and even clipped onto jean lapels. 

The audio player was created by Masaru Ibuka who was the co-founder of Sony. Ibuka wanted a portable audio-listening device for his travels so he directed Sony’s engineers to make a lightweight audio player. Thus, this gave birth to the Sony Walkman that is known today. 

The first model of the Walkman was released in 1979 and it was called the TPS-L2, which later gave way to the actual end product of what the Walkman looked like. The Sony Walkman retailed for about $150 in 1979, rising to $650 post inflation. 

People used the portable player while they exercised, commuted to work or even when taking a brisk walk in the park. Aerobics was increasing in popularity during the 80s and early 90s which was coincidentally the time the Walkman was rising in popularity. People even used their Walkmans during their aerobics classes. 

Sony Walkman and Its Impact

The Sony Walkman is marked as an icon of the 80s and early 90s. It was one of the first ever devices to combine functionality with style. The Walkman gave rise to other audio listening devices such as the Discman, MP3 players and iPods.

In addition, Walkmans also hold its weight in pop culture. It is still referenced to this day in modern movies, television shows and so on.

There has been an attempt to expand as a music app but it is speculated that the app could not take off, thus shutting down, leaving no trace of its trails online. However, despite this, the Sony Walkman is still remembered fondly as a cultural and nostalgic landmark.
