Wondering how to increase CPU speed in Windows 10? The computer operating system that Microsoft has come up with is pretty much an advanced version of the famed Mac OS. Even though many people are now using Windows. However, if you want to know how to increase the performance of your laptop, follow the tips given in the article to boost the speed of your CPU.

7 Ways To Increase CPU Speed In windows pc

1. Update your Hardware

The first thing that you should do is update the hardware. In addition, the computer should also be running the latest operating system. When upgrading your hardware, you will need to obtain a chip from a third-party manufacturer. Before you can upgrade, however, you need to back up all of your important files and data. Back up everything before doing anything else.

You might think that this task is redundant, but you never know when something unexpected can happen to your computer. Thus, by simply installing a new chip, you can improve your computer’s performance.

2. Maximize the Processor Performance

The next way to increase CPU speed in Windows 10 is to maximize the performance of the processor. To reduce the CPU to the maximum setting, change the CPU number to about 70 per cent.

Step 1: Open the Settings.

Step 2: Click the Advanced System Preferences option in the corresponding settings pane on the right. On some laptops, you can also switch to the power mode to increase performance by tapping or clicking on the battery icon in the notification area of the taskbar, selecting the Best Performance option, and using the slider.

Step 3: In the Settings section, click the Additional Performance Settings option.

Step 4: Select Customize for the best performance option and disable effects and animations.

Step 5: Go to Settings App > System > Power & Sleep Options and click on the link to the additional settings.

Image Credits: Screenshot taken from the website

Step 6: Click the drop-down arrow on the right to view additional plans, and then select High Performance. Select Advanced, which allows you to decide which file types are indexed and which are not.

3. Disk Cleanup

Disk Cleanup helps to clean up temporary files, installers, and other garbage that pollutes your hard drive. You can use Disk Cleanup to delete temporary files that have accumulated on your computers, such as thumbnails of images, downloaded program files, and offline websites.

Image Credits: Screenshot taken from the website

To perform the disk cleanup, search for “Disk Cleanup” and perform it by clicking on the “Clean Up System Files” button. This will definitely help to increase CPU speed in Windows 10.

4. Storage Sense

This is a good opportunity to delete files on your hard drive that you no longer need. You can enable Storage Sense in Windows to free up disk space by ridding unnecessary files, including files in your recycle bin, at the interval you define when you have little disk space. You can change the way Storage Sense works and use Storage Sense to free up more storage space.

Image Credits: Screenshot taken from the website

You can instruct Storage Sense to delete files in the Downloads folder according to how long they are in your Downloads folder and set a long wait between deleting files and recycling them in the recycle bin. A screen pops up when you change the frequency at which Storage Sense deletes files – like every day, every week, or every month if your space is tight.

5. Registry Cleaner

The next solution to increase CPU speed in Windows 10 is by using pc cleaning software. This software will help your computer run faster by cleaning your registry from unnecessary items and entries. As a result, your processor’s performance will be increased.

However, make sure that you download the best software available because some of the software created by inexperienced individuals can do more harm than good to your operating system. Therefore, make sure to use an effective registry cleaner for the job at hand.

6. Upgrade RAM

Another solution is to upgrade your hardware. You can upgrade your RAM or your graphics card. The former will allow your computer to transfer data faster. As a result, your computer will be able to respond to commands faster.

Meanwhile, the latter will allow your computer to utilize the best resources so that you will get the best result when using your computer. Therefore, the performance of your computer will increase as a result of upgrading your hardware.

7. Remove Unnecessary Programs

The best way to improve CPU speed is by minimizing the programs that you are not using. By doing this, you will be able to free some space in your hard drive and thus, you will be able to perform better. By minimizing the programs that you are not using, you will be able to free up RAM space and thus, increase the performance of your computer. This is one of the simplest and easiest ways to increase CPU speed in Windows 10.

If you are facing performance problems while operating a computer, you should check the CPU temperature. It is quite common and you should keep an eye on it on regular basis. This is similar to checking your car’s or bike’s fuel. Naturally, if you use your system for a heavy workload then you need to do it regularly. Otherwise, your system will slow down.

To check the CPU temperature you need not open the CPU and place a thermometer inside it. Conversely, the CPU comes with in-built scorching sensors, that you need to monitor or you can design software that will alert you and optimize the heat when necessary.

In this article, we will take a look at and learn about ‘ what a good temperature is for CPU?’, How to monitor it, and the necessary steps to control over-heating of CPU.

Recognizing Acceptable CPU Temperature

The CPU absorbs more temperature when you play a game, play videos and other heavy tasks making the CPU consume more power. Consequently, resulting in CPU overheating and you also experience slow uploading and downloading speed. A good temperature is nearly 50 degrees Celsius(122 degrees Fahrenheit). If you run heavy sites it is natural that the CPU will heat up. You have to keep an eye on the CPU temperature regularly.

CPU temperatures nearly 80 degrees Celsius(176 degrees Fahrenheit) are acceptable. Some of them work at a little high temperature due to small-form-factor(SFF) computers. But, if it goes above 95 degrees Celsius(203 degrees Fahrenheit) is scratching. When the CPU reaches this point, your DPI will slow down or it is possible that your computer will shut down automatically.

If you use your Computer to perform heavy tasks and furthermore you don’t want that your CPU to get heated. You should use programs like Prime95 or AIDA64 to perform a stress test. While running it, keep an eye on the CPU temperature because it can suddenly rise critically i.e.95 degrees Celsius at any point. A normal stress test is an hour-long, but it takes only 10-15 minutes for the CPU to cool down.

How To Keep A Check On CPU Temperature?

Monitoring your CPU’s temperature is as easy as for avid up and using monitoring procedures to get a value of it. Examples are Core Temp, HW Monitor, etc., and many more. These two programs are very easy to use for casual purposes. Additionally, NZXT’s CAM is also an important aspect.

CAM is flourished by PC Case, whereas Power Supply and CPU Cooler are developers of NZXT. It works well even if you don’t have NZXT hardware.

CAM proffers a good user interface once being installed in the system. The first part of the User interface(UI) points to the CPU’s status, which shows clock speed, fan speed, and CPU temperature. Click on the block to enter the extra details.

Image credits: screenshot taken from the website

As the figure suggests the temperature of the CPU is 41 degrees Celsius at the moment. It indicates that the temperature of the CPU is quite healthy and nothing to worry about.

CAM also has an additional feature that gives you CPU’s Status Condition whenever you enter a game and using CAM.It also shows temperature measurements.

Core Temp is also used for monitoring CPU temperature. It is a kind of basic tool that operates an even simpler UI. First and foremost, just keep in mind to deselect the course-ware in the installation menu.

Image credits: screenshot taken from the website

In the image, you can take a look at the temperature of this CPU. It is running on 41 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature limit is 85 degrees Celsius(185 degrees Fahrenheit) as mentioned above. Consequently, running at a healthy temperature. While performing a stress test using Prime95 for more than 20 minutes, the maximum temperature of 85 degrees was achieved in nearly 12-13 minutes.

While using core temp, the best way to monitor CPU temperature is to have a good long session while playing a game. Then you have to take a look at what is the maximum value of temperature right now. If it is above 95 degrees Celsius then you need to worry and if it is between 80 to 95 degrees Celsius then improvement is very much needed.

Steps To Follow If CPU Temperature Is Too High

While performing any heavy task on your PC, if the temperature of your PC’s CPU is exceeding 85 degrees Celsius. To control this temperature you should follow the steps given below:

You have to check whether your PC is clean or not (including the radiator).

Check out all the fans are rotating properly or not while under heavy load.

Re-address the CPU Cooler and CPU with thermal paste if not done in past three years.

Remember how old is your PC.

Make sure you are not using an SFF PC.

If your PC is an SFF PC then the cooling will be least as they were designed for performing light works. Conversely, if you are using it for heavy workloads then it will heat up and consequently, the speed will be compromised. If you are playing heavy games on it, the PC will be shut down automatically. On the other hand, if you love to play heavy games then you should buy a gaming laptop or PC as they are bulky in comparison to SFF PCS as they have an extensive cooling units in it.

If you are using a full desktop or PC then you should have to re-address the CPU and its Cooling System. Most of the thermal paste have a durability of 3 years approx. Cleaning the system and applying new thermal paste to it and its cooling system is a good idea. You will experience a better speed and minimal heating of the CPU.

Wrap Up

Wrapping it up, I hope the above article will help you in tackling such a situation like this. Nevertheless, if you still any issues related to CPU heating then please feel free to share your valuable feedback in the comments section below and we will try to help you out with the same.
