Google Sites

With a signed-in Google account, you can create websites using Google Sites at sites.google.com/new.

Although one can choose to use a real domain name. The website is hosted by a free website builder and published under the sites.google.com domain.

Not Indexing Pages on Google Sites

Because their Google Sites webpages were not being indexed by Google, the person asking the query was concerned. The question was read out by John Mueller and is as follows:

“There was a question submitted in French, basically asking why my Google Sites website’s pages aren’t being properly indexed.”

Google may index pages from Google Sites

John Mueller from Google was the first to confirm that URLs on Google Sites can be indexed.

Mueller’s reply was:

“Getting questions in various languages is fantastic. Backing up, Google Sites-built websites can and do become indexed in Google Search.

However, because the URL you see when logged in and the public version can be altered. Google Sites’ URLs can be a little tricky to track.

Spammers Like to Use Google Sites

Link spammers who use the “Google Stacking” strategy to build links on Google subdomains are well-known for using the Google Sites service.

A Google Site is used by spammers to construct a page of links on Google Sheets, Google Docs, etc., and then interlink them all. The erroneous notion that Google subdomains have “authority” and “trust”. That is transmitted to spammer sites via links is the foundation of Google Stacking.

That’s wishful thinking, of course. There isn’t anything Google refers to as “trust” or “authority” that is passed from one website to another through links.

In order to help publishers who use JavaScript outperform their rivals in a new key online performance statistic, Google has revealed a new technique to run JavaScript that enhances webpage responsiveness.

The announcement gives readers a sneak glimpse at a technique for enhancing webpage performance.

In order to gain an advantage over their rivals, publishers use all content management systems. And platforms may want to employ this trial if it proves to be successful.

The Problem Google is Solving

A statistic called Interaction to Next Paint (INP) takes the place of First Input Delay (FID). INP will be available as a Core Web essential metric starting in March 2024.

A website must respond quickly to every user input in order to perform well on the soon-to-be-released INP core web vital. Some JavaScript takes a long time to run, which contributes to low INP ratings.

These scripts are known as Long Tasks when they require a lot of time to execute. Long Tasks cause traffic to move more slowly because they are like a slow vehicle on the highway that is idling in the fast lane.

The long task is blocking the scripts that regulate user interaction at the moment, making the webpage unresponsive. In that case, the user waits impatiently for the page to respond to a button click.

A user interaction must typically wait until a lengthy operation has been completed running on many websites today. As seen in the graphic below, a lengthy task prevents the crucial user interaction task from being completed.

The Current Approaches Fail

User involvement scores can already be raised with the aid of coding workarounds. However, they don’t truly function properly because they were created to address different issues. Rather than the issue of user engagement.

According to Google’s explanation, current approaches pause the lengthy task. But send it to the back of the queue behind all the other scripts, many of which might not be as crucial as the lengthy work.

A major vulnerability affecting the Forminator WordPress Contact Form plugin up to and including version 1.24.6 was disclosed by the U.S. Government’s National Vulnerability Database (NVD).

According to the warning, malicious files can be uploaded to websites by unauthenticated attackers, which “may make remote code execution possible.”

On a scale of one to 10, with 10 being the most serious vulnerability level, the vulnerability score rating is 9.8, with 1 being the least vulnerable.

Potential For Unauthorised Attacks

In order to exploit many vulnerabilities, an attacker typically has to be a WordPress user or higher. For instance, although specific vulnerabilities are accessible to users with the subscriber user level. Others require the contributor or admin level to be exploited.

This vulnerability is especially concerning because it enables unauthenticated attackers. Those with no user level at all to successfully hijack the website.

The attacker can upload an arbitrary file, which refers to any kind of file, such as a malicious script. This is another reason why this vulnerability is rated 9.8 on a scale of 1 to 10 (critical).

Execution of Remote Code

An exploit that allows the attacker to remotely execute malicious code on the targeted website. From another computer is known as a remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability. An entire site takeover could cause more harm than this kind of hack.

Contact Forms Must Be Strictly Controlled

WordPress plugins that permit logged-in or anonymous users to upload anything. Including text or photos, must have a method to restrict what can be uploaded. Because they allow public feedback, contact forms need to be particularly secure.
