Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, also said that voice authentication by the banks is “Terrifying.”

A report from Business Insider says that Altman spoke at a conference. He mentioned that the world is relying more on old authentication methods. He noted that AI has outsmarted these methods. This change has made it easier for scammers and hackers to copy voices and bypass security. What made him terrified was that “banks will still accept a voice print as authentication for you to move a lot of money or do something else,” said Sam Altman.

To avoid this fraud crisis, he suggested improving the verification and security system. This can be done by switching from old systems to multi-factor authentication. He also predicted that video cloning will be the next big thing. Society must rethink how we verify identity in a world driven by AI. All he meant to share was that the danger is not just limited to the audio.

Soon, in the upcoming days, scammers will be able to create video clones. He warned that video clones could create a “virtual or simulated experience.” This experience could be so realistic that it is hard to tell it apart from the real world. This will make it much harder to verify true identities. He advised the Banks to rethink the authentication system and make an adaptation to high security.

WordPress co-founder, Matt Mullenweg criticised WP Engine at the WordCamp US 2024 event, and his comments against the competing firm have subsequently received backlash.

Mullenweg, also the CEO of Automattic, clarified his opinions about WP Engine. He claims WP Engine has profited off of WordPress since 2010. He has also maintained that key WordPress features have been disabled, features which drove WordPress to the top. Mullenweg made these critical statements during WordCamp US 2024 held in Portland, Oregon. This event is a conference set up by the WordPress community to get together and share ideas.

The WordPress co-founder has claimed that WP Engine has benefited from the confusion between the non-existent connection between WordPress and WP Engine. Many have assumed that WP Engine is under WordPress as the company makes it seem like they are offering customers a product of WordPress. Taking an example from his personal life, Mullenweg says his mother had confused WP Engine being an official WordPress service.

After the first day of the conference concluded, Matt Mullenweg wrote a blog post going on a detailed tirade about WP Engine. In this blog post, he also went on record calling WP Engine a ‘cancer’ to WordPress. He has also extended his criticism towards Silver Lake, the private equity firm that controls the WP engine. He took the comparison between WP Engine and Automattic, stating that the former contributed only 40 hours a week. Meanwhile, the smaller-sized Automattic contributed back 3,915 hours weekly. Furthermore, he alleges that WP Engine has turned off the revision system which helped in correcting mistakes. So whatever mistake a user makes cannot be rectified.

Matt Mullenweg has advised WP Engine customers to get at least 3 revisions to be turned on. This could protect the customer by preventing any loss of anything important.

DeepMind’s V2A utilizes the description of a soundtrack which is paired with a video to create an unlimited array of music, sound effects and dialogue. The generated audio matches the characters and tone of the video provided.

Users are given more control over V2A’s audio output. A ‘positive prompt’ guides the generated output towards desired sounds, whereas a ‘negative prompt’ guides it away from undesired sounds.  

However, DeepMind does not plan on releasing V2A until it undergoes rigorous safety assessments and testing. DeepMind has stated they are committed to developing and deploying AI technologies responsibly. They are focused on making sure their V2A technology has a positive impact on the creative community. Furthermore, DeepMind is gathering valuable feedback from various creatives to inform their ongoing research and development.

How Does DeepMind Work?

DeepMind’s V2A system encodes video input into a compressed representation. The diffusion model then refines audio from random noise. Visual input and natural language prompts are then given to generate the desired audio. Once the audio output is decoded, it turns into an audio waveform and is combined with the video data.

More information is added to the training process to generate higher-quality audio which also guides the model into generating more accurate and specific sounds. V2A trains on video, audio and additional annotations resulting in the technology associating specific audio events with various visual scenes.

Realme is ready to launch another smartphone in India. This is going to be the third smartphone since the Realme 12 Pro launch. Before the launch, a lot of the leaked and speculated details had been confirmed by Realme.

Specifications

It is confirmed that the Realme 12X 5G will have a 5,000 mAh battery, supporting a 45W superVOOC charging. The company claims the phone could easily get charged up from 0 to 50 percent in 30 minutes. Realme 12X 5G will offer the fastest charging speed in its price segment. The device could also be used as a power bank to charge other devices.

When it comes to display, the device features a bright 120 Hz display. It has also been confirmed to include the fastest 6nm 5G chipset and is going to be the only smartphone in this price point with dual speakers.

The Realme is expected to have advanced VC cooling technology. It is expected that the device will have more features like the dynamic button and the Air Gestures such as seen in the Realme Narzo 70 Pro 5G.

Price

Considering that Realme is planning to release the Realme 12X 5G as an entry-level phone, it could be compared with its previous models. Since the Realme 11X 5G was launched with a price of 12,999, it could be said that Realme 12X 5G might as well be priced similarly.

Design

In the recent launches by Realme, it was pretty clear that Realme has been focusing on short-hand design. Unnecessary touch-up on the device’s design to make it look attractive. This was seen in Narzo 70 Pro 5G. But for Realme 12X 5G, it doesn’t seem like there’s much of a design work put in.
