The first and foremost requirement is for users to check if their devices are compatible with Apple Intelligence. For iPhone models, only the iPhone 16 series, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be viable to download Apple Intelligence. Any iPad model with an M1, M2 or M4 chip will be compatible. In addition, any Mac model with an M1 or the chips after that will work. Apple Intelligences needs a lot of processing power so it has been limited only to a few Apple devices. Furthermore, the compatible OS include iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.

Apple has stated that only iPhone users with an extra 4GB of storage will be able to use Apple Intelligence. However, the required storage space may expand as the features increase. Since Apple Intelligence can only support US English as of now, only those devices set to US English will be compatible. Apple is planning on bringing more languages later in 2025.

iPhone requirements for Apple Intelligence: More requirements to access the AI

Another one of the important iPhone requirements is for users to reside outside of China and the European Union. Apple Intelligence currently does not have any support for users living in China and the EU. Apple’s CEO has stated that they are working on bringing Apple Intelligence to these regions but it may take a while.

Users who have checked off all requirements will have to join a waitlist. Users may need to wait longer if there are a lot more people joining the waitlist. It should be noted that users need only to join the waitlist once to use Apple Intelligence on various devices.

Apple Intelligence, an LLM model unveiled at WWDC 2024 will start rolling out in October in iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia. The new iPhone 16 has already been integrated with Apple Intelligence, and it is one of the main selling points for the new lineup. Apple Intelligence helps users with writing and expressing themselves. As the AI model rolls out, more features are expected to come along the way.

Apple has also unveiled the AirPods 4 starting at a base price of $129. The company has deemed the new Airpods as its most comfortable pair yet. Personalised Spatial Audio will be featured in the new AirPods 4. Users are also keen to try out the new feature which allows them to pick up or decline calls by either nodding or shaking their heads. A hearing aid feature for the Airpods Pro 2 is also underway. The Airpods Max will also be receiving new colour variants.

AI integration is an ongoing trend and Apple has also hopped on the bandwagon. The company has already announced its plans to integrate Apple Intelligence into its iPhones, iPads and Mac devices. The tech giant is also rumoured to expand this AI integration into its Vision Pro. 

Additionally, Apple is working on bringing its AI technology into its virtual reality (VR) headset. This integration of Apple Intelligence into the Vision Pro is expected to improve the headset experience. However, this AI integration will not be available until 2025. 

Subscription plans for Apple Intelligence were also recently out in the air. The company is expected to monetise its AI technology which may extend to the AI features available in the Vision Pro.

Apple Intelligence is Apple’s AI system which creates a more personalised user experience. Furthermore, the AI tech assists users in various ways such as helping them refine their writing skills or even creating images.

The Vision Pro is Apple’s own VR headset which retails for $3,499 in the United States. The headset enables users to capture spatial videos and photos in 3D and turn existing 2D photos into spatial photos. 

There are currently talks surrounding a more affordable version of the headset which may be released in late 2025. There may be a compromise in the resolution of the displays to compensate for the price reduction. However, there are no set details about the developing ‘cheaper’ headset.

Image Playground is also another feature available in Apple Intelligence. Users can create fun images in Messages, Pages, Notes, Keynote and more.

Additionally, Genmoji can be used to create new emojis for specific moments. It is represented as ‘inline images’ and Genmoji are supported by AttributedString. Lastly, Apple Intelligence makes Siri more integrated into the OS and personal.
