Country code domains are said to be given preferences in the search results. Gary Illyes, Google Analyst, confirmed this statement on the SEO Office Hours Podcast.

Illyes has stated in a Q&A that Google boosts websites that utilise these country-specific code domain names.

Additionally, Google amplifies local sites so websites using these code domains perform comparatively better than sites that do not use country domains.

Illyes has also stated that going after users’ language may have better results than going after the domain names. Targeting languages means the website can be seen no matter where a user searches. However, ccTLDs only seek the country itself.

Country Code Domains or ccTLDs

ccTLDs are domains particular to a certain country and are an abbreviation of the term ‘Country Code Top Level Domains’. For instance, .in for India and .kr for Korea are common examples of ccTLDs. Such domain names are targeted toward Internet users living in a certain country. It is not language-specific but rather more geography-based.

Generic Top Level Domains also called gTLDs are domains that are not country-specific. Google sometimes treats ccTLDs like gTLDs for ranking reasons. For example, the British Indian Ocean’s ccTLDs is .io but Google sees it as a gTLD.

WordPress.com launched a domain registration deal for one fee for 100 years that includes managed hosting, round-the-clock customer assistance, and other features.

WordPress’s long-term strategy

The customary ten-year limit applies to the length of time a domain name may register. Being able to register a domain for a century is therefore rather unique.

This new option from WordPress is known as the 100-year plan. The registration fee for a domain name is $38,000 USD for 100 years. Hosting and domain registration comes to a total of $380 annually.

What is included in the WordPress Century Plan?

These aspects of the proposal are listed by name in the official announcement:

100 years of domain protection

Distinct geographic data centers’ data centers’ multiple backups

Hosting for WordPress that is “top tier” managed

Unrestricted bandwidth (also known as unrestricted traffic)

Support that is available that is dedicated and tailored Seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day

For whom is the 100-Year Plan intended?

According to WordPress, the program is intended for those who want to preserve the heritage of their businesses. As well as for families and business owners.

The announcement explains:

“Families that want to save their digital assets, including the tales, images, sounds, and movies. That makes up their rich family history, for future generations.

Founders who are interested in safeguarding and preserving the past, present, and future of their business.

People looking for a secure, adaptable, and personalized online home that can accommodate whatever changes the future of technology may bring.

It becomes clear at this point that they have in mind users who want to develop enduring means of telling their stories.

In addition to offering rock-bottom prices on domain registrations, WordPress.com offers to pay domain transfer expenses for the first 1 million Google Domains users. WordPress.com made the announcement that it will pay the domain transfer costs for users of Google Domains and was dedicated to maintaining affordable domain registration costs.

For more than 400 top-level domains that it offers, WordPress.com is offering prices that are equal to those of Google. The lowest costs ever offered for domain name registrations will also apply to current WordPress.com users.

Is it expensive to register a WordPress.com domain?

Yes, registering a name through WordPress.com is incredibly inexpensive, matching the low costs charged by Google Domains.

A dot com domain registration through GoDaddy costs $21.99 per year.

For the same dot com domain, WordPress.com only charges $12 a year.

It was declared that WordPress would maintain the cost of domain registration low moving forward, only increasing it when the cost of registration at the wholesale level goes up. According to the official WordPress.com release, they plan to sell reasonably priced domain names as a long-term business model.

The best way to move a domain from Google Domains to WordPress.com

The procedure for moving a domain is the same as moving it to another registrar.

The initial step is to unlock the domain via the dashboard of your current domain name registrar, in this case, Google Domains.

Once you’ve decided which domains you wish to transfer, go to the Google Domains dashboard and click on Registration Settings in the sidebar menu.

When the domain has been unlocked, scroll down to the Transfer Out section and click the “Get auth code” link.

Click the Domain is Unlocked toggle switch after that.

You can then navigate to the WordPress.com Domain Transfer website and follow the instructions.

For complete steps, start with the WordPress.com page titled “Transfer your Google domains.”

The new metric was introduced by Moz’s research scientists and product team in an effort to evaluate brand salience using information from American businesses.

Moz’s Brand Authority- What is it?

With the use of Moz’s unique algorithm and search data, the Brand Authority statistic gives marketers insight into the effectiveness of their brands and potential growth areas. Brand Authority offers marketers and PR experts a quantifiable brand performance index. That is accessible on Moz Pro and via the Moz API.

It ought to assist marketers in determining how to enhance their tactics for greater return on investment (ROI), understanding the value of sales prospects and potential acquisition targets, and assessing the weight of media brand mentions.

In order to enable more efficient tactics and better results, Brand Authority seeks to provide a complete picture. Dr. Peter J. Meyers, a marketing scientist at Moz, believes that the new statistic has significant promise for brand marketers.

Gaining Brand Authority Will Increase ROI

At MozCon, an annual SEO conference where SEO experts gather to discuss. The state of searching, gaining knowledge, and networking with one another, the Brand Authority measure made its formal debut. By 2024, Moz wants to expand the new brand data to include more regions.

For those looking to strengthen their brand’s performance and competitive position, the launch of Brand Authority may be essential. Professionals should be able to more successfully plan. Detect marketing gaps, and evaluate brand strength with the aid of this new tool.

In Google’s recent statement, they gave new guidelines to SEO experts for using cross-domain canonical links. This is because Google noticed that users are still using the cross-domain canonical links where they are not recommended, and it was necessary to impose limitations.

Google is supposed to publish multiple updates on different pages with the guidance. But rather than that, they published the guidelines in a staggered manner. This results in confusion among SEO experts about whether Google is in favor of cross-domain canonical or not.

Here are the two major highlights of the update:

Google clarified their new guidelines for duplicate content on Google News for news publishers. They mentioned that if any syndicate partner uses canonical links to avoid duplication, they can avoid it because the original content is somehow different from others. Moreover, syndicate partners can leverage meta tags to block content indexing.

Additionally, Google shed light on the content that Google News must block. This warning is especially for publishers republishing whole content from wire services, public domain sources, or other publishers.

Google announced on its official page that Content must be blocked from Google News.

The major change was removing the previous guidance, which encouraged publishers to use canonicals. Additionally, Google removed all the suggestions considering cross-domain canonicals. Instead, Google clarified that all the guidances mentioned in the statement publishers should “consider” not “must” do them.

Google’s Statement about cross-domain canonical Link Elements

Goolgle’s recent statement indicates that they support canonical link elements. This gave publishers a green sign to use cross-domain canonical link elements, but yes, they need to do it carefully by following the guidelines.

Some publishers are happy with Google’s update for ranking on cross-domain canonical elements, but some are not. What is your thought on this? Write us in the comment section and share it with your SEO friends to let them know about this new update.

Suggested:
Canonicalization: You must solve this canonical issue to avoid Duplicate content.
