Galaxy Ring – wrap this new technology Galaxy AI ring around your finger. Yes, you heard it right, Samsung has launched a new technology: the Galaxy Ring, marking the company’s first smart ring. All you need to do is just slip it on, set it up, and forget it’s even there. It does not require a subscription or hassle; just enjoy the 24/7 personalised health insights, which Galaxy AI powers. Furthermore, it supports Android phones, including our trusted Galaxy devices.

Key Features, Price, Design, Weight, Battery, and much more you need to know

Samsung priced the Galaxy Ring at $399 and designed it for health and fitness tracking, offering heart rate, sleep, and activity monitoring through the Samsung Health app, without requiring a subscription. Available in black, silver, and gold, it features a minimal design and comes in 9 sizes (5 to 13). Weighing only 2.3 to 3.0g, it is comfortable for daily wear and has an IP68 rating for water resistance up to 100m. The ring has a battery life of up to 7 days, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, 8MB of memory, a PPG sensor, and a sleep AI algorithm, and can interact with Galaxy smartphones

Google has begun rolling out the new Android Protection update set to improve security and personal data if ever a person’s phone has been stolen. The new update will be available for smartphones that run Android 10 or versions after.

Google has introduced three new features that will aid in the protection of user’s privacy and personal data. Theft Detection Lock Feature is among the new features introduced in this update. It uses Google AI to detect if someone has snatched and stolen the user’s phone. When the thief starts moving, either in a run or on foot, the user’s smartphone will lock itself to prevent valuable information from getting into the hands of the wrong people.

The Android protection update has also introduced Offline Device Lock. The Offline Device Lock feature has also started rolling out for Android smartphones. This feature automatically comes into effect when a thief attempts to disconnect a user’s smartphone for a long time. What this feature does is that it locks the user’s screen to prevent data breach and this feature is still effective when the phone is far away from the owner. It also recognises signs which may imply that the user’s smartphone has been stolen.

Android Protection Update: More features under this update

Another feature currently rolling out is the Remote Lock feature. Just like the other features in the new Android protection update, this feature is helpful for instances of smartphone theft. Users will be able to lock their phone screen by simply using their phone number as well as entering a quick security question or challenge from any other device, This will allow users valuable time to recover their account details. In addition, users will also be able to access helpful options in the Find My Device option. Users will then have the choice of enacting a factory reset to wipe out their entire device.

Truecaller on Android smartwatches is now available to download through the Play Store. This service which identifies unknown calls is now accessible on Wear OS smartwatches.

Devices that run Wear OS 3.0 or newer versions will be compatible with Truecaller. Smartwatches from bands such as Google, Samsung, Fossil, OnePlus and more can run this app. It has been recommended that users set Truecaller as a default app to ensure the best user experience. Additionally, users have to install the app on their smartphone and pair it with their smartphone to make the app function. The company has also stated that new features will be launched in future updates.

It is a simple and easy installation process as users can directly download the app through the Play Store. After the app is installed, users will be able to answer or reject a call, access the call logs, and make calls. However, users will have to manually enter a phone number to make new calls. Truecaller on Android smartwatches can make voice calls and there are no customisation features as of now.

Truecaller on Android smartwatches: More on the Truecaller app

This app was co-founded by Nami Zarringalam and Alan Mamedi in 2009. The company was founded in Stockholm, Sweden. Truecaller is free to use and is available on both Android, iOS and the Web versions.

Truecaller is a popular smartphone app that has a bunch of features to help users identify unknown phone numbers and manage contacts. The app has over 400 million users all over the world. It also reduces the amount of spam calls and text messages from scammers, telemarketers and more. The service alerts the users if a spam caller is calling or it just completely stops the spam call before it goes through.

School Time feature will be available on even more Android and Wear OS devices including the Galaxy Watches and select Android smartphones and tablets. Google plans to implement this expansion by the next year.

This feature was released in the Fitbit Ace LTW smartwatches earlier this year and now the tech company plans to expand the service to even more devices.

School Time Features

School Time ensures a child’s productivity during school hours by setting limitations on the child’s devices. This feature allows parents to make an effort to make sure their child does not get distracted during classes. Even when this feature has been turned on, parents can still contact their child in the case of an emergency.

This feature also lets parents choose and create a schedule for apps allowed for usage in classes. This can be done through the Family Link, Google’s parental control app. In addition, parents can choose who can contact their children during these class hours.

Parents can even switch on this feature when it is time to study or limit screen time. Parents can even set limitations and silence notifications for teenagers who do not fall under the usual School Time feature.

Furthermore, Google is introducing even more features that cater to teenagers. A new update that will be available this year will allow parents to monitor their teenager’s YouTube activity by linking accounts. Moreover, supervision through the Family Link will be permitted for all ages which gives more parental control. Google has also set default safety settings for underaged users. SafeSearch can be turned on and autoplay can also be turned off on YouTube. Lastly, ‘problematic’ content that can be harmful to impressionable teenagers has also been limited with newly introduced safeguards.

Microsoft China is banning their workers from using Android due to the company’s cybersecurity rules. Employees will now be ordered to use iPhones instead of Android devices.

This new mandate is part of Microsoft’s Secure Future Initiative and will be put into action starting in September. This move by the tech giant restricts its employees from using Android devices to follow cybersecurity measures. Employees must now use Apple devices to verify employees’ identities on their work devices.

Microsoft aims to make sure that employees make use of the Microsoft Authenticator password manager as well as the Identity Pass app. Thus, employees will be able to access their work devices after undergoing Microsoft’s identity authentication checks. Microsoft workers with an Android phone will be given an iPhone 15.

Microsoft China and Reason for Its Mandate

This move by the tech giant may be due to Google Play’s unavailability in China. However, Apple’s App Store remains available so this might be a contributing factor behind the ban. Furthermore, Chinese mobile brands such as Xiaomi and Huawei already have their own separate and independent platforms.

Previously, state government agencies and companies in China banned iPhones in the workplace due to cybersecurity measures. iPhones were already facing a decrease in popularity in China so the Microsft mandate may relieve some of the negative attention Apple had received earlier.

Until now Google Play Store allowed users to only download one application at a time. With a new feature that has come along the way, Android phones will now be able to download more than one application at the same time.

Must Read: How To Launch Your Android App On Google Play Store? Step-By-Step Guide

Everything You Need To Know

Google has worked on a new feature introducing multiple downloads simultaneously for Android users, This wasn’t possible until a while ago. Earlier users were only able to download one application at a time. However, this is not the case anymore. This is a big thing as all third-party applications by smartphone companies like Xiaomi, OPPO provided this feature.

Users must know that this feature which is now available in Android phones only allows up to two applications. So users won’t be allowed to download more than two applications at the same time. So if users try to download three applications simultaneously, they will not be able to. One of the three applications attempted to download will be put on queue. For Users facing any issues with downloading multiple applications, Google has shared how to fix such issues.

Only For New Applications

Android phones are expected to experience the feature in the coming days. The feature is only applicable for new app installations. The same cannot be expected from updates and other functions. However, this is a piece of great news as installing a new application can be time-consuming. Users often get in a situation where they are bound to or expected to download multiple downloads at the same time.

Conclusion

Android phones in the past used to put applications on the queue if they were downloaded simultaneously. However, Google has brought up a new feature to its Play Store which existed in other third-party applications by Samsung, OPPO, and Xiaomi. The feature lets you download two applications at the same time. The feature is only limited to new app installations and not to any app updates. However, Google is bringing the same for the updates as well.

Silence Unknown Callers feature enables users to easily activate a setting that will silence calls originating from spam or bothersome callers. Such calls commonly originate from numbers not listed in a user’s contacts. This feature aims to prevent disturbances caused by calls from unknown numbers. Users who opt not to enable this setting will hear their phone ring when they receive calls from any WhatsApp user, even if the caller is not in their contact list.

How to set up Silence Unknown Caller Feature?

Users can turn this option on by going to the Settings menu, clicking Privacy, and then to the Calls menu. After turning on the Silence Unknown Callers option, they will not get calls from unknown callers. Moreover, WhatsApp says these calls will automatically mute but still show over the notification bar or section. This helps users to check if that call is important or not.

When you receive a call from an unknown number, your phone will display the number and show a message indicating that the call has been silenced, such as “silenced unknown number.”

In the Privacy section, WhatsApp has also added a new tool to check your Privacy. This checkup walks users through a few steps to help them learn how to use different privacy settings. These controls include options like “Choose who can contact you,” “Enhance privacy in your chats,” “Control your personal information,” and “Strengthen account protection.” Users can change settings by going through this process.

In the previous month, WhatsApp implemented significant updates to its back-end systems to mitigate spam calls from its users in India. The company announced that it had substantially enhanced its detection capabilities by utilizing machine learning technology. As a result of these improvements, WhatsApp anticipated a noteworthy reduction of approximately 50% in the number of spam calls experienced by its users in India.

The good news for Google Meet users is that a new feature has been rolled out that eliminates distractions.

Recently, Google rolled out a ‘viewer mode’ feature in Meet. It allows the admin to make all participants become viewers only and is restricted to sharing audio or video. This feature is named “Everyone is a viewer,” the admin can select in a meeting.

Meet Viewer Mode

The main aim of this ‘viewer mode’ feature is to reduce the potential distractions or disturbances in the meeting. Such as audio disruptions, and only allow participants to view the admin screen.

According to Google Workspace Updates, viewers couldn’t share their screen or audio during the meeting. So that increases the focus on the speaker, and the content, making the meeting more fruitful and effective.

Google said, “When a large group meeting is required, the host can switch to view mode. So that participants can only view the meeting without sharing audio or screen.”

However, viewers can use other Meet features such as QnA, Polls, etc. but not the in-meeting chat.

Meet Increases Participants Limit

Additionally, the Meet has increased the number of participants in a meeting capacity from 500 to 1,000.

This built-in viewer mode feature will automatically turn on when the number of joining participants is more than 500 in a meeting.

How Does the Viewer Mode Work in Google Meet?

Firstly, the Host will use the video call options while creating a new meeting.

There’s an option called ‘Guests.’ Click on the ‘Everyone is a viewer by default option.

Once the changes are done, all the participants joining the meeting will automatically turn into viewers.

However, the host can designate attendees to share or present screen/audio as co-hosts and contributors.

Google Meet Support 1080p Quality Video Call

Meanwhile, Google has recently rolled out a new feature that now Meet supports 1080p video calls and enhances user interaction on Meet. However, this feature is not for all users; it’s only available for Google One premium members and some eligible workspace users.

As AI is booming globally, most brands adopt it to keep their users engaging and entertaining. So Snapchat, with its AI integration, makes the app a lot more fun for users. Snapchat MY AI enables users to send AI Images, opening new opportunities for influencers and brands. Snapchat’s AI image feature is powered by ChatGpt or GPT-4, which also showcases the emerging usage of ChatGpt.

Snapchat My AI for Increasing Engagements

The first beta version of this feature was launched for subscribers or Snapchat+ users. According to the feedback, Snapchat made improvements and launched a stable version for all users. Snapchat My AI for subscribers launched on May 11, and for all the users, it launched on April 19.

The users are engaging more with the chatbot after its release. Here it looks like people are more interestingly participating in the AI version of images, which is taking Snapchat to another level.

How Does My AI Work?

Users can use the same process they do to send snaps to their friends. But the only difference is for the AI version of images you have to send them to the chatbot. Chatbot will process the Image and reply with the AI version.

Here is an example of My AI. You can see the difference between the AI image and the original Image.

The chatbot doesn’t always send a snap in reply. Sometimes it also sends a text-based reply which can be based on the Image or its context. According to Snapchat, My AI could not understand the image inputs at the start, which were sent from the camera roll. But in the future, it might change with the upcoming updates.

Snapchat My AI Ads Welcoming New Opportunities

Along with snap conversation, My AI also displays advertisements in selected conversations. The relevancy of Ads can or cannot be dependent upon to context of the conversation.

These ads allowed businesses to reach a growing and engaging audience to enhance their brand awareness and ROI. The ad recommendations include recipes, fashion, restaurants, etc., per the conversation’s relevancy.
Currently, this feature is only accessible to iOS and Android users, but it may also launch for the web version.
