Apple has stated that it plans to empower businesses to show Apple users the best and most accurate information. With the new update, all companies can register on Business Connect to develop a visual brand identity. This helps with establishing the company’s identity and connecting with its customers. Businesses can also register to show their brands off on the Phone and Mial apps. They can also customise the brand’s logo through the Tp to Pay tool available on the iPhone.

In addition, Branded Mail enables businesses to show their logo as well as their brand name in customer emails. Thus the company’s emails will stand out in comparison to the other emails in the customer’s inbox. It should be noted that while businesses can register for Brnaded Mail, logos will only appear to the customers later in the year.

Apple Business Connect: More tools announced by Apple

Apple also announced Business Caller ID in the Apple Business Connect update. Through this tool, businesses will be enabled to sign up for a Business Caller UD which showcases valuable information about their brand. Details such as their logo, name and department show up on the incoming call screen as they call customers. This tool helps customers differentiate between legitimate businesses from spam and scam callers. The tech giant has stated that this feature will debut sometime next year.

Businesses can also decide on whether or not they want to show their brand logo when they receive Tap To Pay payments. Instead of the category icon, they can choose to show their logo instead. Customers can thus rest assured knowing that they are paying legitimate and trusted businesses.

Apple annually holds this event to provide students with a platform to showcase their creativity and coding capabilities. With this challenge, the tech giant aims to support and uplift student developers. Selected candidates will also get to meet and interact with Apple’s best engineers and even its CEO, Tim Cook, at the company’s headquarters in Cupertino. Students are encouraged to push the boundaries and develop their skills. Apple plans to help the students by introducing a new version of the Swift Coding Club resources.

The tech giant will be selecting 350 Swift Student Challenge 2025 winners. To win, the students will be judged on the criterions such as social impact, innovation, inclusivity, or creativity. Furthermore, from the winning pool of 350 students, 50 winners will be invited to head over to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino for three days. A year-long membership in the Apple Developer Program will also be rewarded to each winner.

Swift Student Challenge 2025: More on this challenge by Apple

The Swift Student Challenge 2025 will be opening its application submission in February 2025 for around 3 weeks. There are a few eligibility criteria for students to meet if they want to participate in the event. Firstly, students will have to be 13 years or older in the US, to the minimum equivalent age in the specific jurisdiction. Candidates must either be a member or be registered with Apple as Apple developers.

The students will also have to be enrolled in a top-accredited academic institution. This applies to official homeschool arrangements as well. In addition, the students will also have to be in a STEM organisation’s educational curriculum. And lastly, the students must have graduated from high school or other equivalents all within 6 months. Students should also note that while this challenge can reward around four times a week, students are chosen only once as a Distinguished Winner.

As per reports, the upcoming iPhone SE has been codenamed V59. The tech giant is speculated to remove the home button from the next generation of SEs. The design is said to look similar to the iPhone 14. So the new SE 4 may include flat sides as well as an OLED panel. A notch will also be located at the top. In addition, the new SE is also said to have the same dimensions resolution as the iPhone 14, measuring up to 6.1 inches with an 1170 x 2532 display.

With the end of the home button, Apple is most likely to bring Face ID to the SE 4. However, certain features such as the Dynamic Island will only be available for the pricier models. Apple Intelligence might even be integrated into the SE 4. The tech giant also plans on using the SoC available in the standard iPhone 16 along with a 5-core GPU.

Apple Sticker Will Not Be Included with the iPhone 16

Third-party retailers such as Amazon will not have an Apple Sticker to include in the iPhone 16 box. The retail box for the iPhone 16 will hereby only contain the actual iPhone itself, a USB-C to USB-C cable and a SIM card ejector pin (For customers in India).

The removal of the stickers was previously done with the release of the M4 iPad Pro and the M2 iPad Air. This has most likely started Apple’s decision to remove the inclusion of the Apple sticker.

Apple Sticker Re.moval: Reasons behind the removal

This move by Apple comes as a result of Apple’s commitment towards obtaining a carbon-neutral status by the year 2030. It is one of Apple’s environmental strategies and the company is expected to include more environmentally friendly decisions in the future. Furthermore, Apple has stated that it would manufacture all its packaging in fibre. So this means that all packaging including that of the recently released iPhone 16 will have packaging made fully out of fibre.

The last iPhone model to have two Apple stickers was the iPhone 11. The iPhone 11 included the full set of standard accessories including a power adapter, USB cable, stickers and EarPods. Nowadays, an iPhone box lacks most of these amenities. Apple gradually committed these inclusions including the EarPods, adapters and now the stickers.

Apple’s decision to reduce the amount of in-box inclusions has been credited to the company’s move to reduce environmental impact. Other smartphone companies also followed in Apple’s footsteps by removing certain inclusions from the box.

The AirPods 4 will be available starting September 20 but those interested can also preorder the new launch. The new AirPods are deemed Apple’s most comfortable and advanced earphones, which the company designed. Customers are offered two models as options such as the AirPods 4 and the AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation. The model with Active Noise Cancellation is priced higher at $179 than the standard model at $129.

The new AirPods offer up to 24 hours of battery life with a USB-C charging port. It gives users up to five hours of audio listening running on a one-time charge. The open-ear design of the AirPods makes for a comfortable fit for most ear shapes. Powered by an H2 chip, these earphones provide features like Voice Isolation, enhancing call quality. The H2 chip also makes the new AirPods ideal for gaming as it supports 16-but, 48kHz audio. Additionally, a new exciting feature also allows users to decline or accept an incoming call. Users can also apply the same to questions by Siri. A force sensor feature in the new AirPods also allows users to pause, mute or play audio or calls with a fast press. 

AirPods 4: More features and other announcements of AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Max

Users are given a fully immersive experience with Personalised Spatial Audio coupled with a dynamic head-tracking feature. Apple is introducing ANC for the very first time in an open-ear design with the new AirPods release. Other features also include Transparency Mode keeping users wary of their current environment. Another feature called Adaptive Audio combines both Transparency and ANC according to the user’s environmental conditions. 

Besides the new AirPods release, Apple has also announced the release of five new colour variants for the AirPods Max. The new colour variants are namely, Midnight, Blue, Orange, Purple and Starlight. The Airpods Pro 2 will also be introducing a Hearing test, Hearing Aid, and Hearing Protection feature.

iOS Public Beta 2 Features

The new iOS 18 public beta features new wallpapers for CarPlay which have taken influence from the new iOS wallpapers coming to the iPhone. The Hidden folder is available through the App Library and has also updated its design. Other design updates include personalisation Homes Screen layouts and customisable tined colours for widgets. The updated flashlight UI will now be available for iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15.

The Lock Screen has also seen some design changes specifically when iPhone Mirroring has been turned on. Additionally, the Stock app icon has also been upgraded.

The long-awaited RCS (Rich Communication Services) is also present in the new iOS 18 public beta 2. RCS is expected to be a game-changer for Apple as it bridges the gap between Android and Apple regarding messaging and texts. For instance, Android users will be able to send high-quality files and read receipts.

There is also a new update showing a Controls Menu which can be found in the camera’s Settings. This new feature enables users to save the used camera tools when the Controls Menu has been opened.

Before this new update, the iPhone flashlight had basic and limited features. It had the normal flashlight and the usual on-and-off switch on the Lock Screen. Users could also choose the level of brightness through the Control Centre. 

However, with this new flashlight update, comes an overall upgrade in the flashlight’s UI and functionality.

Once users have turned on the flashlight, the newly added UI will come into view in the Dynamic Island. To adjust the beam width, users can simply swipe right or left. Adjusting the flashlight’s beam allows users to adapt to various lighting environments. Users can also adjust the brightness through the same method of swiping right or left. 

Another update in the flashlight can be seen in its UI. There is a slight tweak in the design as users will notice the curved line represents the brightness and the beam width. In addition, the UI even displays a curved line with dots to signify the maximum level of intensity. 

Other new updates in iOS 18 beta 3 include the change in shade of third-party icons which was only available for Apple’s apps.

Image Playground is also another feature available in Apple Intelligence. Users can create fun images in Messages, Pages, Notes, Keynote and more.

Additionally, Genmoji can be used to create new emojis for specific moments. It is represented as ‘inline images’ and Genmoji are supported by AttributedString. Lastly, Apple Intelligence makes Siri more integrated into the OS and personal.

Since WWDC 2024, two beta versions of iOS 18 have been released to developers. The final version of iOS 18 is expected to be made public in the fall later this year.

iOS 18 New Language Support Features

The new update enables users to customise their lock screens in various numerals from the newly added languages. Telegu, Arabic, Ol Chiki, Arabic Indic, Odio, Bangla, Meitei, Devanagari, Malayalam, Gujarati, Kannada, and Gutmukhi are the 12 languages added to the roster. 

The Keyboard on iOS has also been updated to support trilingual predictive typing. Telegu, English, Tamil, Bangla, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi and Hindi are the languages supported by the keyboard. Support for English and Korean multiscripts will also be included in the upcoming iOS release. This new update offers language scripts to users so they can switch between languages effortlessly. Furthermore, the keyboard will recall the most recent language in a thread in the Messages App. 

Language search has also been worked on in iOS 18. Users can check for the spelling of words that sound similar. This new update applies languages such as Gujarati, Devanagari, Bangla and Assamese.

Other features in the update include language support for Siri in 9 languages. Telegu, Bengali, Tamil, Gujarati, Punjabi, Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, and Malayalam have received language support for Apple’s AI assistant. 

Apple has also expanded Hindi support in the Safari browser, Translate app and translation in Notes.
