Link Building Techniques That Worked For Me

Hi My friends, There may be many Link building techniques which you must be using for your blog or website to rank well on Google SERPs. Even I am using some of the techniques of link building to rank on Google’s search engine’s pages. And today I will be sharing all those techniques which have helped me to build quality links to my blog and even rank on Google SERPs.

So here are the Link Building techniques that have worked for me:

  • SMO (Social Media Optimization)

This is the first thing that I do after starting a new blog or publishing a new post. From last few years, social media optimization has become one of the most important and effective link building technique. There may be many social media sites available on the internet.  But sharing and linking our blog in the right way makes the difference and will help us to get more referral traffic for sure. Although the links we get by doing SMO may not be Dofollow links (not indexed by Google) but the main thing is that this kind of link building help us to build a good reputation of our blog and website that is because Google counts the social signals for ranking on the SERPs.

  • Guest Blogging

Guest Blogging is my favorite technique for building quality links. I have been using this technique for many years and found it that it is the most effective and the best technique for building links. There are many bloggers who only use this technique to build links for their blogs and websites and no doubt are ranking well on Google SERPs and even getting better domain authority by doing the same.  There are more than like 50 sites where I have done guest posting, and as a result, I have got a good domain authority,  more traffic, good Alexa Rank, and the best thing is good Reputation as an author.

  • Social Bookmarking

Many bloggers now think that social bookmarking is of no use now. Time was there when people were dependent on the social bookmarking sites more than anything. But I say to you that social bookmarking still has the scope and can be used to a good amount of referral traffic and sometimes helps to get Quality backlinks for our blogs and websites. I still use some best quality social bookmarking sites like Delicious and Reddit. You can also find the list of social bookmarking sites here.

  • Skyscraper technique

The skyscraper technique was introduced by Brian Dean owner of the Backlinko.com. This technique is effective and is working perfectly for me. Although this technique has not helped me to get more links for my blog, the technique has best worked for me to get some extra traffic. I have reached many Bloggers with this technique and have created good relationships with the many other bloggers. If you are interested to know about this technique more then you must visit Brian Dean’s blog and learn more about this technique from there.

  • Blog Commenting

Another link building technique without which it is difficult to rank on Google. As we all know that commenting is the heart of blogging. Without comments, a blog can be nothing. Although we get Nofollow links by commenting on others blog which is of no use, there are Blogs which provide Dofollow links in the comments Like there are bloggers who use comment Luv plugin on their blogs and are providing Dofollow links in the comments sections to the commenters. Even I am also using comment Luv to build links to my blog. And have collected a list of commentLuv blogs also which you can use to make links for your blog or website.

  • Answering Questions on sites like Question/ answering sites

There are many question/answering sites available on the internet like Quora.com and answers.com. And answering the question on these sites help me to build links. Although this kind of websites gives Nofollow links, these links prove to be very good which results in best referral traffic. There are many bloggers who get thousands of visitors from these sites only, and even I get a good amount of traffic through these sites, mainly from Quora.com.

  • Sharing Infographics

Images and infographics are as important as content. So, I always prefer doing image sharing. There are sites like Pinterest and Flipboard where we can share our infographics for free and even possibly get a good link from these sites.

  • Doing reciprocal linking

This is the most doubted technique which confuses many bloggers and webmasters. But I have crafted a post on “exchanging links with fellow bloggers, ” and even many have shared their opinion about it in the same post.  And I must say that exchanging links with the fellow workers are not bad if done in a right way, so I do exchange links with many of my fellow bloggers and together we are ranking well and getting more traffic. But we do this in a limited way.

  • Making links using the blogging platforms

There are many blogging platforms like Blogger, WordPress.com, and many others. So What I do is write content on theses free blogging platforms and then rank those pages too. This technique of building links seems best to me because we don’t have to pay a single penny what we have to do is only hard work. In this type of linking, I follow a technique named three tier linking. Even making the links for those pages which are on Blogger and WordPress.com.

  • Creating Links with Profile creation sites

I have always preferred creating links with profile creation sites. In fact, I have always started my link building strategy by doing profile creations. And I will say that profile creation sites have also helped me to boost domain authority of my blog. So, you can also check the list of Profile creation sites that I have collected.

Finally, What I want to say:

All the above link building techniques are working for me, and I am getting better results for my websites by using these techniques only. So if you think that the techniques mentioned above are good enough and you think that same will work for you, then I am glad that I wrote this Post.

And Finally if there is any technique which has worked amazingly well for you, then please let me know through your comments, I will be happy to know that. And even feel free to leave a comment if you have any query or question.

  1. Nice one !
Hello robin I need your help and I hope you won’t let me feel me bad .

Im using the same theme you are using but the whenever I put any code in header it automatically ads a box over it . So the concern is how could I remove this box……

    1. Hi Roshani,
If you the basic of HTML and Css then you can remove that box yourself by updating the style.css file in the theme. Or possibly you can ask a web developer to do that.

  2. Hi Robin
    Interesting and helpful article.
I wonder what is your opinion of writing articles on the (better) article directories, such as ezinearticles? At one time I got a lot of traffic in this way, but then it seemed to have been discredited and I stopped publishing articles. Then I heard it was OK…..?

    I’d welcome your opinion please?

    1. Hi Joy,
I have not been doing any directory submissions from a year. So, I don’t know anything about it now. Although A time was there when directories were considered good for getting good quality links.
Although, Thanks for being here. Have a good day.

    1. Hi Janice,
Your blog is already on my commentluv blogs list. And There are many blogs which provide Dofollow links for sure like Kikolani.com, growmap.com and some more. And it looks like that you are providing Nofollow links to the commenters your commentluv premium plugin.

  3. For me, the best technique would be Guest Posting and Infographics. Just one question for Blog Commenting, how is it effective if a reader like me wouldn’t click the link in the comments? Just like this, our names have links of our blogs, websites, etc. How can it be a good technique if some of us doesn’t click the names? Just a question, I’m not making an argument 🙂 I’m just wondering how effective is Blog Commenting.
