The Indian government has banned 59 Chinese apps because they were reportedly “objectifying the sovereignty and independence of India, the protection of India, national security and public order.” Common among all the banned Chinese applications are the based social media communicating platforms that have inhabited the Indian online market in the previous couple of years.

 The Government of India (GOI) has banned 59 Chinese-owned have mobile apps by issuing out a press release, including some very popular apps such as TikTok, Helo, We Chat, UC Browser. There have been several hundred – thousand users of these mobile apps in the world. 

GOI official Announcement: 59 Chinese Apps Banned in India

The Indian IT Ministry has released an official statement on pib.gov.in concerning the official banned on 59 Chinese mobile apps in India, This stating which those who “prejudice the integrity and sovereignty of India and the defense of India, and it is also state security and public order.” The below is the Indian Govt. official press released message:

“The Indian Ministry of Information Technology, referencing its powers under the Section 69A of an Act of Information Technology, It must also read the relevant regulations of its 2009 Rules of an Information Technology and Given the evolving existence of the risks, it has agreed to banned 59 applications because, Since it, a view of the available information and they are engaged in actions that undermine the sovereignty and integrity and protection of India, the defense of India, national security and also public order”.

With the current Indian-China border conflict, the Government of India (GOI) has agreed to banned 59 Chinese apps mentioned above. So, for now, it is not clear whether the Government of India (GOI) can execute these apps banned in India. These have been among the most useful and very popular apps that used 100 thousand Million of users, and TikTok had almost one billion downloads from the Google Play Store, and Shein, Shareit, Helo, Kawai, Xenders and Club Factory all have more than 100 million downloads. The goals of China’s Digital Silk Route have also been hit with a huge setback by that kind of action by the Government of India (GOI).

  1. This is seriously a Good Action taken by Indian Govt. But the Border issue should not disturb the freedom of technology usage. I think so.
